Ruby Red UL Is No More???!!!
From (ahem) "another" Lexus ES350 message board.
Well, guess what I found out today?? As of a month ago they are no longer making Ruby with the UL package. My cousin lives in Atlanta and is in the auto industry. He spoke with internest sales manager at Nally and her field rep told her that they are no longer making the Ruby in the UL package. If you want it, it has to be special ordered. Unbelievable!! The very color and package they display at the Chicago Auto show they decide not to build anymore.
Could this be true?
If so, is this perhaps the stupidest move in the [up until now] illustrious history of this marque?

If it's true, at least you can still special order it, just that you may have to wait ~3 months. I saw a ruby red ES350 in person & the paint looks very nice on the car.
The only possible explanation if what's posted is true is they don't anticipate much demand for this particular combination ?

isn't silver the most popular car color?
Don't they base what cars they send the dealer next by the number of days a particular color stayed on the lot? I'm sure other factors (season, month, options, etc. also factor into that algorithm), but I have to think that the manufacturers now have this down to a science. Hence, some of our favorite colors don't necessarily show up all the time at the dealers.

Ours is a Ruby Red UL. We got it a little over a month ago. It was just sitting there in Longo's (Californina) huge inventory. It was love at first sight for us. On paper we had picked out Granite, but we (wife and I) stopped in our tracks when we spotted the Ruby Red.
I hope this doesn't mean I'm not very popular!!! I'm going to call all my ex-wives just to make sure I'm still loved.

I stopped by my dealer yesterday, (its right across from our costco) & was going to ask about that, but they were so busy I wasn't going to bother them. But I do know they originally told me that only 7% of the cars will be built in ruby. Also the production schedule was pre-planned for at least the 1st 6 monthes of production and that when you 'special order' that you are really just waiting for them to get to what you want in their cycle and then that car will be allocated to your dealer. Right now they are analyzing whats selling and whats not (moonshell?) and planning the next cycle.
