When playing store bought CDs...
how do you get the CD information (i.e., trakc number, artist, etc) to show on the naviation screen?
For those of you who might remeber, I was deciding between the ES350 and the Infiniti M35, but chose the Lexus. Apparently the M35 has had some serious electrical issues that the manufacturere does not always want to address. Gas prices were also a factor.
At any rate I do love the car and the service department at my dealer is top notch.

if you really want the text, rip the CD into mp3 format, rename the files, and copy onto a CD-r. All of my mp3s display artist, song title, and track number. The nice thing is you can copy about 180 songs onto a CD, and categorize them into folders. The mp3 player in the car has function to change folders within same CD, so thats real cool.

For some strange reason, the Lexus & Toyota CD players of cars made during the past couple years of cars don't display the CD title and song title for regular (non MP3) CDs. It's disappointing they don't have this function, considering cheapo aftermarket stereos usually have it. It could have been added via a trivial non-cost firmware tweak, so the reason is not technical. It's possibly due to a licensing/royalties issue that would have jacked up the cost.

Only problem is you still can't see this information unless the car is not moving. The DETAIL button that displays this info is unavailable. However, you are able to see a folder name and file name of an MP3 disc. The number of characters displayed is very limited though.
The LIST of folder or songs from my iPod and the DETAIL if I want it are now always available on the head unit's display.
Lexus shouldn't have this locked out in the first place. It's a stupid limitation.
