Anyway, it's the Owner's Manual. You should be able to find it under Section 2-5 Driving Information --> Winter Driving Tips --> Shifting the windshield wiper position. The page about windshield wipers is after the snow chains. The page also contains 2 pics that show you how to shift the wipers. It's not hard to spot.

Well since I don't have a scanner at hand, I'll just type whatever is in this page:
Shift the windshield wiper position
You can shift the wipers to the rest position manually. (In heavy snow or icy condition etc.)
Grip the hook section of the wiper arm firmly when shifting the wiper position.
- To rest position (this is the position my wipers were in in the pic I posted)
Raise the wiper in the with the windshield. You can stand the wipers up for the rest position.
- To retract position
Lower the wipers by pressing on the upper part of the hook section.
Well, that's it. Basically you just pull the upper part of the wiper away from your windshield, then you push the hook downward.

This is very strange, since my previous car, a 2003 ES had a whole section in the Owners Manual about shifting the wiper positions.....w/ illustrations. It doesn't sound logical that the mechanisms for making this adjustment is different in cars shipped to the US as opposed to the Canadian market. BTW: Do you have headlamp washers on your car?

Thanks for this thread. I would have never known you can do this. There is nothing in the US owners manual in the Driving information section that mentions this. I will have to try this out since it will come in very handy come wintertime.

Page 150 of my ES350 Owners Manual(US) has Drivers Information--->Snow Chain Installation--->Driving with Snow Tires--->Driving with Snow Chains.
The Canadian Owners Manual has illustrated instructions about how to shift the wiper arms for winter operation. Why the differences in the Owners Manuals, and are the mechanical linkages different in Canadian models. I don't want to damage anything if I try yanking on the blade arm to reposition the blades seated position.

So has anyone whose manual doesn't mention about the wipers actually get them to shift on their car? I'd think that they should shift whether your manual has it or not, but I can't be responsible if you break your wipers
