Default Bam!

So I am going home from work yesterday on the highway and I hear "BAM!". I was like WTF was that? I open the sunroof cover and everything looks okay and I forget about it. This morning I am leaving the store on my way into work and I see it........

So the part was ordered and should be in tomorrow.

On top of all this, last week I had my ES in for the 3/4 Flare. Got my car back Friday and did not drive much this weekend but Monday I noticed the flare but this time it was from 4/5, so they are looking into that as well.

I am so happy I got a Lexus over Toyota because the service has been so far above and beyond what I had received over the years at Toyota. I am not bashing Toyota but Lexus goes that extra step and I have always had a loaner car and waited very little.

OUCH!!!

What did hit you or do you think hit you?

Also please keep us posted on the transmission issue.
I just asked yesterday if the fix offered is a permanent one and the tech supervisor said so far it seems to be as opposed to saying absolutely it is.

I am worried something designed for 3/4 won't also fix my car's slipping in 4/5 once in a while but more often it seems 2/3 slips but with this 6 speed it's hard to be certain whether it's 2/3 or 2/4 most often.

What hit me?? I think it was an Acme boulder that Wily E Coyote threw at me from the dump truck.

There was a dump truck (non covered) in the other lane about 4 car lengths ahead of me. A rock or something really hard probably came from there. I am looking at this on a positive note thought. If I had not gotten the UL, that would have been metal there and a nice big fat dent that would have been more of a pain to repair. The deflector piece literally installs in minutes, 2 pins and 4 screws, so not a huge deal.

As far as the transmission issues, I will let you know what they say. They have my car and will test it out tomorrow.

Also, the picture looks a lot worse since the pins for the support arms are out and pushing it out more. If you look in the middle of the pic, you can see the white impact spot and the shatter sections at the bottom.

I consider you mighty lucky in this case. If it had landed a few inches back, thats the big piece of sunroof glass which is really expensive to replace. A few inches forward and thats the windshield, which is a real pain to replace as well. Needless to say, a dent on a metal roof would suck as well....so you did good driving into the debris at the right speed and angle.

Cool

Just goes to show they've come along way from the reported early GS sunroofs that could fly off the car @ 120mph+.

Dude... LoL! Quit playing limbo with the car!

The cost of the part was $511. I am having insurance cover it since that is waaaay over my $0 Comp deductible

Default Flippin' Out

Flippin' trucks and their loose loads that cause flippin' damage like this every day! I wonder how many flippin' billions of dollars insurance companies or car owners (collectively) have to pay out each year for this sort of flippin' stuff.

I believe liability insurance is really expensive for these flippin trucks. The flippin insurance companies will always win in the end. We consumers have to deal with flippin irresponsible truckers and even bus drivers. When these idiots cause accidents, everyone suffers...especially in rush hour traffic. Flip them!

Flippin' right!
I got a nice rock chip in my windshield a month ago from a huge truck on the road ahead of me. And of course, these barges on wheels just carry on down the road, totally oblivious to (or disinterested in) the destruction they leave in their wake!
