My side mirror dimming lights did not come on when I walked by the car last night. Normally when you come close to the car, the light underneath the side mirrors come on. Is it possible the sensors didnt pick up cus the car is too dirty? I drove the car to the supermarket, and the light worked again later on.

Has anyone experienced any malfunctions that happened only once or twice and never again? This is wierd.

I believe the sensors, which work on some sort of 'radio' frequency, pick up the existence of the key so dirt will not impact the signal. How close/far were you to/from the car? Did your interior lights come on? (if you have them set to come on when you enter the car or get close to it). This might give some insight into whether it was the signal, the lights, your proximity, etc. My puddle lights, as the ones under the side mirrors are called, come on no matter what the setting of the interior lights is.

i was approaching my car as i normally do before i enter. This was an isolated incident because this morning the puddle lights came on as usual without me touching any settings. I have not adjusted any settings asides from the freebie factory adjustments which basically adjusted my door locking.

I had assumed that the puddle lights would come on when you approach the door handles or trunk button, do they come on if you approach the car from the hood or front fender area?

Previously I've just walked by the front or rear of the car while it's in the garage (with the key in my pocket) and the puddle lights, etc. come on so I assume it's a total perimeter sensing. I believe the car has multiple antennas throughout to monitor the activity on the various sensors (inlcluding the key).
