Default ES350 married to IS250/350

I noticed there are quite a few families here who own both the ES350 and the IS250/350. One for the hubby and one for the wifey. Usually the more grounded half takes the ES350, and the spunkier half takes the IS. I was in the elevator today with a couple who said to each other "see you tonight" and parted ways. When I walked out, the man drove away in his ES350 and the woman in her IS250. I was like "wow...this might be a common thingy". I think my wife would be happy in an IS250 because the size and power fit her needs. If only it were more baby-friendly. I'd love to have 2 Lexuses in my household.

We bought both the ES350 & IS350 the same night, she wanted the IS and your right because she wanted a smaller car. I wanted the ES-UL because we take longer trips to see family and it offers more room, smoother ride and so on. Sometimes we change cars for a few days on our commute to work. The IS is FAST but I like my ES ride better. And I'll admit it, theirs just something about 2 L's in the garage that brings a smile to you and it keeps her happy too.

Interesting that you brought this up. Actually if I were to buy a second car for the family, the IS 250AWD would probably be my first choice.

My ex-gf likes the IS but I don't know if she'd like to drive one. She'd love to own a G35 coupe though.

She seems too shy to drive (any of the cars) when I take her along for test drives or test drive / launch events.

In our case, we have an RX350 and an ES350. My husband usually drives the RX and I generally drive the ES, though we've been known to trade on occasion.

So far we really like having a couple of Lexus vehicles - regardless of which one we're driving, we're happy!

Heehee! Sounds like me and my hubby!

He drives the ES350 and I drive the IS250 RWD. All I need is something small, sporty and cool looking. No one ever rides the back seat of IS so the size is perfect for me. It's great for me to squeeze in and out of traffic and to parallel park. Hubby needs something with more head room....he's 6' and IS doesn't do it for him for long trips. We use the ES350 for long trips.

ES350 fits his personality better.....conversative with class and style. IS250 fits me better.....aggressive, spontaneous and fun with a touch of elegance. I make a lot of noise everywhere I go and IS does the same.
