Estimated cost of 07?
Guys,
Helping a friend who is looking at a 350. She is trading a perfect 2003 with 22k and they are offering her $20k.
She is wanting the 07 ES350 which does not have NAV or ML and they want $37,500.
I know you could use more details than I am supplying right now - but as of yet this is what I do know.
Someone give me an idea of how those prices look?
I was thinking the trade-in was pretty low considering mileage and condition.
Thanks,
Jonny

People seem to be buying the ESs at about $2k-$4k under MSRP. You can check estimated use car values here:

it is important to treat trade-in and purchase as separate transactions. If she is financing also, then that's yet another separate transaction that is independent of the other deals. Often times the dealer would give you a nice purchase price and low ball you on the trade-in.
The basic Premium Plus package should be about $37,500 out the door (taxes licenses included). This is the price I paid for my MSM ES350. If the price is higher, there better be some added items.

Kinda weird but my local dealer works on the price difference of the two vehicles. In other words, he won't tell you what he's giving us for the used car or for the new car, just that we're working on the price difference. That made sound weird but we managed to get a really good deal ($2k off other dealers since other dealers work with MSRP and black book prices)

For your reference, I traded in my 2003 premium package ES300 too for an UL ES350. Dealer offered $16,500 for my ES300 with 55K milage. So I think $20K trade-in for yours is decent. I get ~3K off the sticker price for my UL ES350 (SGM/gray) though.

Do not trade your car in if it is in great shape. Sell it yourself, save yourself several thousands of dollars. Dealer's give wholesale for trade ins. I would only trade a car in if it was wrecked, in bad shape, needs work, etc.
By the way, NADA trade value on a 2003 ES 300 with 55K miles is $19,500. Retail value is $22,500.

I was well aware of trade-in values among different online sources, e.g. edmunds quotes approximately the same as NADA. However, KBB quotes similar trade-in value as what my dealer is offering...I checked with a few other dealers, their offers for the trade-in seem to be about the same. One of the dealers actually has another 2003 ES300 (with 54K milage) on the lot for ~$19K. That's why i think the offer is pretty fair, they probably have 2k margin on my 2003. If I sold it to private party, I would lose the tax credit on trade in instead (~$1200).

Hmmm, 37500 will get you a PP+ car with Nav. I dont think thats a good offer for a car without nav. Not sure about the fairness of the trade in number, but try getting more since its a low mileage car. Tell her to concentrate on each aspect individually: get best price for the ES350 and then work on the trade-in number for the old ES. Hopefully if she can get a good price for the ES350, she'd mind getting a bit less for the old ES.
