Hello folks,
I'm new to the forum as my mom is considering replacing her BMW 528i. We are a complete BMW family, but the recent Lexus designs are great and the rumblings about Lexus client service are peaking my interest. My mom is getting ready to retire and will only be driving 10K max/year, but reliability and TCO are extremely important. I would love to hear from former BMW/Benz owners about the differences between the cars and whether or not you made the right decision.
Additonally, it seems to me as if the UL packagae is not even an option for the Houston market. When I go to the Lexus page and input our zip code (77002), the highest package available is the PP+:
Premium Plus Package with Additional Options $7,137.00
Premium Plus Package Includes:
- Leather-trimmed interior
- Heated and ventilated front seats
- Driver's seat power cushion extender
- Lexus Memory System to control power driver's and front passenger's
seats (except lumbar), outside mirrors and steering wheel
- Electrochromic outside mirrors with tilt-down in reverse
- Rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers with mist cycle
Additional Options:
- Lexus voice-activated DVD Navigation System
- High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps and Dual-swivel Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
- Wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift ****
- Power rear sunshade
- Full-size spare tire with 17-in alloy wheel
- Rear seat side airbags
- Preferred Accessory Package (includes Cargo net, Trunk mat and Wheel locks)
I think I remember hearing that Lexus is only offering certain packages to certain markets, can anyone confirm?
Thanks in advance for your help!!

I purchased a Black Ultra Luxury ES 350 at Sterling McCall Lexus in Houston on Saturday. It came additionally equipped with the Mark Levinson system and parking assist.
I just decided to go visit on Saturday morning and see what they had. They had 4 ES 350's on the lot. Two of them were UL and the other two were premium plus.
