Default Winter Wiper Position

We had our 30 day (check up?) today and I asked the technician about the winter wiper position. This is to get the blades into an area where the defrost hits it better, and also avoids the problem someone mentioned that in the normal position, anyone pulling the blades up (like when they place a flyer under your blades) might scratch the paint on the edge of the hood. It involves grabbing the arm (the part with the rubber blade) and pulling the blade up along the windshield. This moves both blades into a position where the elbow now lies above the hood. You will be sure you are breaking something before the things come into position with a POP. The blades can remain in this position permanently, but they will no longer be hidden in the hood cowling.

LOL... The wipers are always in winter position on the Camry, so you're right they can remain in that position indefinitely!

Know what I really found sexy on my SE... The windshield washer nozzles are under the hood, I'm sure they're the same way on the ES?

Yes, they're hidden under the hood on the ES350.

you're right, and I haven't helped much by saying to grab the part with the rubber. Its actually the arm holding the blade you want to be pulling. Probably best to have the service man show you.

It's actually very simple to do but it just takes a bit of force to make the arms move. You definitely grab on the thicker part of the arm of the wiper and NOT the blade. There's no need to lift the arm or blade when doing this. I've done it a few times when going to places where there might be a parking tag placed by an unwitting attendant and it works well. The arms will stay in the winter position until pushed back down.
