If there is a C version of the whole transmission or maybe even a D version by now it may be noteworthy but otherwise the old TSIB of changing out just the valve body in the transmission clearly was not working leaving little else but to decide to change out the entire transmission.

This new TSIB may only be them realizing what we knew here thanks to Wanderer's poll on TSIB success, the valve body was not working as they had hoped so instead they are now directing that the whole transmission be replaced.

I had my transmission replaced 2 weeks ago, and the flare has resurfaced. At least for me, the transmission replacement IS NOT A FIX for this issue.

If you want to splurge and pay 2-3K for a tranny later or maybe trade it and move on....thats your choice. I am a closet mechanic and when you understand the dynamics of "spike" or "flare" and what it does to a tranny, you'll understand why tranny's fail. Try using google.

I will get the flare looked into- when there seems to be a recall or a solution for it. My dealer is aware of it, im not going to let them rip transmissions in and out until they know its solved. He knows I am waiting until there is a better answer then changing the transmission every time it flares.

I felt it once, when I TRIED to make it happen, under normall driving I have never felt it.

Im not going to spend my days *****ing about it with others as if Toyota/Lexus does not know they have the problem.
They will solve it- give them some time. I wont need to use google- I will just call my dealer.

Not like my warranty is going to expire next month.

If it happens frequently/regularly, then yes it could be considered a severe issue...

FWIW--I've experienced one or maybe two flares at most on my ES...granted my car has only 4200 miles on it but still...

My "flare" occurs 100% OF THE TIME when I hit 3rd - 4th after a cold start and no warm-up. The magnitude varies depending upon the amount of throttle. Generally 300RPM - 1500RPM.

Again, the transmission replacement DID NOT FIX my issue.

I hope that others have more luck than me. I'll likely be pursuing the Lemon Law, depending upon how the dealership wants to approach this.
