2% of the base MSRP is what I found *most often*. But I also saw websites that said it was 2% of the total MSRP and even a couple of websites that said Lexus does not offer any holdback at all. So I'm not sure what the truth is.

Did you get your car at $200 under invoice? That is the best price I have heard of so far. Also, what dealership did you get your car?

Frebay,

Does that car come with Navigation? If it does, then it should be a fair price for you.

its 2% of the base msrp, so a base es 350 will have the same holdback as one with the ultra package

actually, thats not "holdback." holdback is paid to me whether i sell the car right off the truck or after it sits on my lot for a year. i get the hold back regardless of when its sold.

Hi Frebay, could you let us know which lexus dealer u get that price from? That's a good deal you have. I am looking to buy the same car with same option like yours in 2 weeks.( Premium Plus, Navi, heat/cold seat, adaptive hid, bluetooth, parking sensors, sunshade, fullsize spare, prefered accesories, leather+wood driving wheel....)

Based on my calculation from various sources edmunds, auto.yahoos.com.., your car invoice price is 36234(destination charge $715 included). After 7.77% tax + license fee 380, Out the door price is 39400. So seems like they are offering you the invoice price. And if my calculation is correct, the dealer makes about $800 out of this deal because of the holdback they'll get from the factory.

BTW, what invoice price does the dealer show you?

i got my MSM premium package for $37500 out the door back in July. But it didnt have a Nav. I think Glendale is really competitive.

Is $200 under invoice the exception, or is it relatively easy to get in CA?

JJ, its amazing how much stuff one could learn from the forum. Also, I appreciate your honesty and "inside" info you provide across posts I have seen in both GS and ES forums. If I understand correctly you work for Lexus dealership, right? Can you please explain in more details the whole principle of "holdback"? I getting bits'n'pieces of info from different threads, but nowhere have I seen a full definition and how it works. Thanks!!!

Do you believe everything you read on the internet? There are exceptions to anything. Like if you are buying a brand new GS or LS and also ES which they can give to you for invoice or under Or maybe its a dealership where they had a dozen of tranny repairs and they want to get rid off their stock? LOL!!!

Either way, from everything I have read so far, CA is where you get the best deals. If you look at directory of all US Lexus dealerships, probably 70% is on West Coast. A lot of competition like this drives the price down. Here on East Coast, you get one dealer in 100 mile radius
