Lexus ES 350 Wins its Category in Canadian Car of the Year Awards
Automobile Journalists Association of Canada members pick the Elegant Sedan as Best New Luxury Car (under $50k)
TORONTO, Nov. 21 /CNW/ - The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) - the association of professional journalists, writers and photographers who cover Canada's automotive industry - today announced the category winners for the 2007 Canadian Car of the Year competition, and the Lexus ES 350 was voted Best New Luxury Car (under $50k).
"On behalf of everyone at Lexus, I'd like to thank AJAC's members for awarding the ES 350 this important honor," said Stuart Payne, Director for Lexus in Canada.
"The ES 350 is one of our most popular models, and when we redesigned it for the 2007 model year we incorporated many new luxury and style features - to strengthen its position as the elegant sedan in the very competitive entry-luxury segment," Mr. Payne continued. "We're therefore very pleased that the members of AJAC have endorsed our redesign in voting the ES 350 as the best in its category."

I've never heard of AJAC before. But then, being from the States I wouldn't normally have interaction with Canadian automotive journalists.
For you natives, is this an important or meaningful award in Canada? Or is an AJAC recommendation just something nice to put on the ES350's resume?
