Lexus reported best-ever total year-end sales of 322,434, up 6.8
percent over last year, and all-time best-ever overall sales month of
37,235 units, up 9.9 percent over the year-ago month. It was the second
consecutive year Lexus posted sales above 300,000 units.

reported best-ever overall sales month results of 20,913 units, an increase
of 21.6 percent over the year-ago month. For the month, passenger car sales
were led by the ES 350 luxury sedan with best-ever December sales of 8,736
units, up 34 percent. The ES 350 luxury sedan reported best-ever year-end
sales of 75,987 units, up 12.8 percent. The IS 250 and IS 350 luxury sport
sedans recorded combined best-ever December sales of 5,538 units and
combined best-ever year-end sales of 54,267 units, an increase of 244.8
percent. The all-new LS 460 premium luxury sedan reported December sales of
3,865, an increase of 73 percent, and year-end sales of 19,546 units.
Lexus Division light trucks reported December sales of 16,322 units and
year-end sales of 139,397 units. The RX 350 and RX 400h enjoyed combined
best-ever December sales of 12,779 units and year-end sales of 108,348
units. The RX 400h luxury hybrid SUV reported sales of 1,981 units for the
month.

My take

The Acura TL had sales of 71k for 2006, so the ES regained its crown for best selling sedan in class.
The ES has never sold better. I do not believe Lexus has sold 75k ESs in a calender year. Wow.

Hm... that's a lot of sales - looking really good for Lexus. Just curious how many of those ES sales are the UL version - they sure are rare around here.

This is great news for Lexus and Toyota! However something stinks, help me understand...

I get the ES 350 sales up 34% for the month of December... That means they sold about 5,766 ES 350s in November.

Which brings me to my next point... How many hold over ES 330s are included in the annual 75,987?

Same with the LS 460... WTF? 19,546 for the year, yet December sales were up 73% or 3,865.

That must mean they only sold about 1,044 LS 460s in November? Didn't the LS 460 just come out in October? So where was the big report that about how 14,637 LS 460s were sold in October and only 1,044 were sold in November or basically a 1400% loss in sales?

Well, mine is only 5 days old with just under 200 miles, but there are no rattles or other problems in it. I have not had a chance to check for a flare on a cold start, but there is no diesel noise nor rattles.

This morning when my wife was leaving, I heard the garage door go up, her close the car door, and then the garage door go down, and I never heard her start the car or pull away. I could always here her WRX start up and pull away, and I can hear the garage door and car door clearly, as our master bathroom where I was getting ready for work, is right next to the garage.

I liked it better last April when I bought my ES350......There were so few of this model sold at that time, and it made me feel special. LOL

ons is right about the figures including nearly 5 months of sales of the 330 so you can feel a little more "special."

I think someone in PR, very likely over the strong objection of accounting, releases them this way as I keep seeing it done each time these kinds of numbers are posted though it seems other manufacturers do not do this.

The question is, will you feel special if 46,000 ES350 were sold.

I was looking for the GS numbers that are included in these releases but not this one since I defended it on that other thread from appearing more problematic than the ES.

I'm not feeling so "special" either. In our small residential development, there are already 4 ES350's. At least, as my wife pointed out, they're all different colors - So far....

I'm wondering too how come there is no GS sales numbers? GS350 was introduced in September, and they should have enough numbers for GS300/GS430 and GS350 sales. One thing for sure, GS430 sales drastically declined after GS350 intro since it's 3.5L V6 has a more powerful engine than 4.3L V8. Also if you look into GS forum, a lot of people complaining about low inventories of GS350 models which probably typical since they had to ramp down GS300 and ramp up GS350 production. I also assume a number of people were waiting for financial incentives of December-to-Remember to get their GS, therefore it contributed to low inventory.

I found it on CL home page read more. I also noticed I must have been right in saying it----the production ledger---was released over the objections of accounting given the % errors in it. Looks like a sales division forecast ledger got released by mistake before corrections were made. The GS models seems all lumped in under GS300 ???

Should feel special for years to come because you seriously dont see ULs around much at all. I saw a Golden Almond UL for the first time last month, which was the only UL I have ever seen on the road asides from mine.

i think it's because many people can't justify paying $45000 for an ES.

Good point. Once you get up past that low to mid $40k price point, you start competing with a whole other segment of cars/brands. UL's seem to be rare around this area too. I was just at my dealer for a car wash, and of the 6 or 7 ES's on the lot none were UL's.

Yup, I saw a Golden UL too. I found it to be ugly honestly, especially when the black glass roof contrasts with the color.

I doubt people are paying over $40k for a UL equipped car.
