How to fix my carpet squeak? bad fit & finish. +++ LEXUS. ARE YOU READING THIS?

I need help. Sorry. I seem to have the most fit and finish issues with my hyundai, I mean Lexus. Check out my video demo of my carpet squeak.
Do you think theyre gonna have to rip out my whole carpet to fix this?
Never in my life have I had a car whose carpet squeaks like this. Not even a Pinto does this, i think.
My whole rear passenger carpet squeaks when someone gets into the car, as you can see, all it takes is a little pressure. The squeak is loudest near the center compartment. and it feels hollow beneath the carpet.

I was listening to your video and thinking wow that is Bucking Fizarre...
...until I went out to my own car and pressed there and it does the exact same thing as your's does
It is as though something is holding the carpert up from the floorboard in that area and the sound seems to come from carpet moving against the inside of the back of the center console and under the console somewhere. You can press into ---in front of passenger seat areas and same sound and light pressure no less.
Please let us, me, know what your dealer service tells you it is and how to get rid of it.
I see now why you mentioned it before when passengers got in, it could be embarrassing for them to hear it.

hah. i wish this were a joke too.
with crap like this, I wish we had direct access to the lexus design team, so that we could berate them for screwing up so much.
... and of course, more importantly, to get their advice on how to fix this crap.
I really don't want the dealer to experiment with my car unless lexus comes out with detailed instructions for a fix.

I just hope I'm wrong as to what I think is the cause behind it being able to happen in the first place.
From removing underside plugs I know there is a layer of white nylon or some thin fabric that is underneath the carpet.
I think they figured the shortest distance between two points (to save on material costs????) is a straight line rather than lay it flat against the undulation in the floor back there so it sticks up and does this. That is if that is a real undulation in the middle of the floor back there between the back passenger sides of the car and not some other anomaly.

Like wow a lot been going on for the last few days, well yep I got that plastic squeaker too, found that sucker about mid Oct. Sounds like it comes as standard equipment on all cars. The fix get out the screw gun and go for it.

If you are that angry where you have to make up a car in your signature, you have to curse in the title (which I will edit) and your car is that shoddy.
Sell it. And please, start an anti-Lexus crusade that will fail miserably.
You could simply have one thread where you list the problems with your car, instead of multiple threads.
I might merge them.

those *** in the title aren't cuss word censors. They are separators.
I'll change them to another symbol.
You shouldn't merge threads. If you're gonna do that, might as well merge all the rattle and transmission and engine noise threads too. Make one jumbo thread.
Each is an individual problem that deserves an individual thread...... and may even lead up to a TSIB. Easy to search, easy to read. Conglomerate threads are a mess.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti lexus. But there aren't just two sides either; black/white. praise or hate.
What I'm doing is bringing problems to the surface, rather than being passive and living with them. Do you settle , or do you do something about it?

dunno,
Since it is obvious there are several thousand vehicles with this issue, as for other issues, I think this thread is important as unlike most all other defects as excessive wind noise, engine noise, this is one where there is likely zero chance to be turned away without a remedy or be told it represents the normal operation of an ES350.
I think Lexus can and will fix this but they have to know about it first and since they do take internet info seriously they now do know thanks to your post however colorful your title and general approach may be.
I reviewed the area again this morning in the bright light of day and it seems more is involved in causing this than just the fabric underlying carpet I originally thought.
It seems something has the floorboard area and carpet over it pushed up and loose, we have an exaggerated rear wheel drive hump back there in a front wheel drive vehicle.

Take a deep breath! Have you heard this person's creaky carpet? The OP is just trying to get Lexus to listen to a specific problem. The OP is also informing the rest of us about this problem.
Your suggestions of just to "sell it" are not contributing to the thread in a constructive way. Further, threatening to merge the threads in the same post only give others the appearance that you no problems using your "power" as a moderator to dictate the original posts and content that may differ from your views.

Wow, after watching the video of the creaking noise, I'm appalled by the outcome of this new ES design. At first I thought it's going to really take over the entry-level luxury market by storm, but now with the insurmountable problems of transmission flair, interior rattles, engine noise, and now this unexpected creaking noise from the interior rear, I'm beginning to think that the Japanese are perhaps slipping behind in terms of maintaining their engineering capability and integrity with the release of these new Lexus vehicles (esp. with the upcoming IS-F to be released in 2008). One day, I'll have to take a trip down to the dealer and really experience the ES350 inside out, but for now I'm just disappointed with all these unacceptable problems and issues with the car..

I’ll try to bring a little clam to help matters. I’m pretty sure the squeaky plastic under the carpet is not an issue of “some people got it”, “some people don’t got it” it’s not the same thing like the trans issue, some do, some don’t. It was designed this way in all cars, it’s just the design was made from the wrong material. This one is a first year bug, that’s the way it is. So like I said a few posts ago I noticed it mid-Oct but to date no one getting into my car has step in a way that makes it squeak, Lol, I just know it’s there. I guess I got kind of got caught up in the moment last night with my own posts.

Well, mine is such that everytime a passenger puts his right foot down in the place he would normally put his right foot, it squeaks. My carpet "squeak radius" probably reaches farther than yours.
Some people may hear it squeak when getting into the driver's seat, because the rear-right bolt is fastened in that area of squeaky carpet.
However, I just played with my carpet a bit, and if i hold down the spot marked with X in the pic below, the squeaks will stop even if i apply pressure with my right foot, or push any other surrounding area.......
...... which suggests that if they spent an extra 10 square inches of carpet and laid it flush against the frame below, I think this squeak wouldn't happen.
on a side note, have you guys noticed how cheap the carpet looks? they definitely saved a bunch of money in this area
I swear my 2003 es300 has better looking carpet.
