My objection has been the amber color versus the blue /white light of the HID. I was thinkng of swapping the high beams for Hoen bulbs that will closely match the blue / white of the HID. You will need upgraded wiring harness ($10 for a pair tops) as they will melt the standard harness. I have had them in my Lincoln LS and the color, while not as sharp as the HID, was very close. Took 1/2 hour to replace the bulbs / harness on the LS. The high beams are a standard size bulb. Checkout www.hoenusa.com for more info.

Might also try PIAA extreme.

They disabled the DRLs and seat belt chime with no questions asked.

We keep the lights on AUTO 99.9% of the time, but there are a very few times at night when I want the lights turned off. We have a Christmas light show in the area every year and when we drive the car through, only the running lights should be on. One year, we went through with my Chevy truck and couldn't turn off the lights or DRLs- not fun when every other car is flashing you to turn off lights you have no control over.

How close would they match, color-wise...given that the DRL circuit on the ES 350 works in such a way that it fires up the high beam bulbs at reduced wattage (voltage/amperage?) when in DRL mode. IOW, I reckon the color of those bulbs will be a bit whiter, but not as white as they would be when in full-blown high-beam mode...not by a long shot, IMHO.

However, I may have misunderstood your post and you were solely concerned with the high-beam mode...in which case, nevermind my rambling post.

Just the high beams in order to give a bluish white light versus the amber.
