Oh my gosh!! My car had the transmission replaced before I got it.

As far as carfax I did actually pay for the report. Another lesson learned- it disappears off the website in a few days. I didnt print it out. I am stupid on that one I fully agree. However, I do not recall seeing any type of notation regarding buyback, transmission issue, etc. I wonder if it would be worthwhile getting the copy again?

Cole,
Ons comes through on another thread with a potential resource you might check out as regards your car situation.
Just for curiosity sake go check out your car at link ons included and see what shows up on your vehicle, it says it is free to do this.

What happens to my Lemon once the manufacturer buys it back?
This will also vary from state to state, but in California the titles are branded "Lemon Law Buyback" according to Evan Nossoff of the California Department of Motor Vehicles. The Lemon Law defect is then repaired and the vehicle is offered for sale. The selling dealer of the vehicle must also disclose to the potential purchaser that it is a Lemon Law Buyback vehicle and the nature of the Lemon Law defect(s). According to Attorney David J. Farrell, in California, you are also given a Lemon Law Warranty to cover the defect for 12 months and unlimited mileage, plus the remainder of the manufacturer's warranty, if applicable. There is a potential for a "Lemon Law Buyback" vehicle to not be sold as such. If the vehicle is transferred from one state to another, the state the vehicle is newly titled in may not recognize the previous state's title branding. In many cases, A VIN check can find a Lemon Law branded title from other states. To check for a possible branded title, click on the link to the Edmunds.com homepage and follow the "Free Carfax Lemon Check" link to find out.

dunno,
That claim is from some well rehearsed playbook.
Even I was told that about my 06/06 build month car last October, it had it's update in Japan during it's manufacture, blah, blah, only early builds had a serious problem, blah, blah, and this is just a flare but your's was caught in Japan, blah, blah.
It's transmission was hosed up, it SLIPPED 2 to 3 and 3 to 4.
Countless of our members were told the same thing and they are also reporting their transmissions are hosed up, they fell for the story before purchase.

well, I couldnt help myself. I purchased the carfax report (again! This time I printed it out...) The original owner had it from 5/12 to 7/18/06. I got the car 8/04/06. The report looks clean with no salvage, buyback, accidents, etc. It doesnt specify why the car showed up as dealer inventory on 7/18/06. I guess overall it is good news. Reviewing the warranty shows just the balance of the factory warranty. No additional goodies such as Plat. extension, etc. I guess I need to put this issue to rest (finally) and push the issue further if I see any worsening symptoms (before 70k obviously)
Thanks all.

Is Lexus/Toyota jumping in ahead of the game and buying the car back before the state gets involved and labels it a “Lemon”? You know, Lexus prides it self on “we do not sell lemons”...
