Transmission Flare Solved - NOT!!!

We will not need you to go above and beyond and crawl under the car for the transaxle part number as it seems the info on two part numbers is a false alarm posted by a fellow on Toyota forum who had been misinformed by his dealer.

It seems the Camry folks are faring no better than we are currently and they even started a problem with transmission poll as we have had here, only more recently for them, mid December is when they started their's, where ours is far longer running.
Reasearching the above items, having made several phone calls yesterday as well, just proves what I have repeatedly said before:
If it is on wheels with a Lexus emblem on it, CL is the place to get the most accurate info possible. Our member reports on anything, but certainly transmission and 2nd transmission are a very valuable source of accurate and up to date information.

I've left my ES350 with my service dept for the last 3 days to see if they can recreate the flare. It doesn't surprise me that they've failed to do so, as I had the same issue with them on my first trans. After the first few failed attempts on my original trans, I had to take them along one evening and show them the problem.... then they agreed there was a problem. The TSIB fix failure was so obvious that they verified that problem by themselves.
Anyway - my new info. My replacement trans still slips. They can't replicate it at the dealer. They did get the trans number and run it through Lexus. Lexus apparently advised them that my trans is from the latest build, and there is no newer trans available. That to me says that I do have the latest trans version - which still is faulty. I didn't ever mention to my dealer about different build levels for the trans - they advised me I had the "latest and current" build level.
So for me the "latest" trans builds are the same as before. There is no fix here.
Are V6 Camry owners having any better luck with this, or are they still having these issues as well?

The video camera has been a wonderful tool for me to document my issues.
A week after I got the car back after the transmission replacement, the flare showed up. Although I can say that it is not as consistently bad as the original tranny, I'm still getting the occasional 1000RPM - 1200RPM slip along with the regular 200RPM - 300RPM slip.
When I picked my car up after the replacement, the service guy said that I was getting a 7 year/100K mile warranty on the tranny, plus free 15K and 30K mile services. Pretty nice!
When I called back to say that the replacement didn't work, after a few days they called me back to say that there was no other option to fix the flare and that I'd have to pursue a buy back.

This EXACTLY the same attitude I received from Lexus: "Too bad, we don't know how to fix it, have a nice day" The only difference was they wouldn't buy back an 02 ES. Good luck!

Other than I am not the type to pursue things I believe will not work, I also am not ready to be subjected to anything even close to the rudeness I experienced with former ES350 woes and about the flawed transmission being told the thing was learning and being left stuck in it. That will not happen again to me, I'll be sure I am more than prepared if I choose to cease waiting for a fix.

I just had a new transmission installed last week as part of the buy back process. About 5 days later, the new transmission started slipping. The dealer told me the new transmission was brand new. Very disappointing!

My transmission was replaced on or about January 12th, 2007. The paperwork says:
"OLD UNIT 32A06D119384 NEW #2A06M111310
OP CODE #366011B T1=30 T2=999
INSTALLED NEW TRANS"

For those who have followed my posts, my issue may be a bit out of the ordinary for most "flare" sufferers. I purchased the car in Fresno, CA (closer to home), but have been having it serviced in Modesto, CA (closer to work). I called the Modesto dealership today and they already seem to be forgetting about me. A week and a half ago when I had told them that the tranny replacement didn't fix the problem, they basically began the "drop Kent as a customer" protocol and half-interestedly diverted me to Fresno (with no number or person to contact, nor with any guidance). All contact with Lexus has been driven by me. I think that this is basically going to end up being a lot of work for some of us customers, but I'll make them remember what they are putting me through. Today when I called Modesto back for the third time, they did give me the 1-800 number for Lexus and I actually spoke to a person after a few button pushes on the phone.
The rep was attentive and listened to me, but didn't ask many questions - I had to give her the entire narrative of the issue. She did say that a "specialist" would be contacting me within 2 days. Additionally, she said that it was almost a given that I'd need to bring the car back to the dealership for another diagnosis. I explained the problem that some of us have with the dealership being unable to duplicate the problem but some of us also have numerous videos of the flare to show. I also said that the dealership told me that there was no other fix for the problem.
I'll keep everyone updated as this progresses.

Since there seems no reliable fix for this I would think it would be cheaper in the long run for Lexus to simply return the money to any customer with this issue upon the customer bringing it into the service department.
Not only would Lexus save money by not paying a service department to perform this exercise, but also would gain much in good will not putting people through hoops associated with this transmission issue.

Perhaps and that is assuming it involves only 5 % which I strongly doubt. Our poll on the valve body was very revealing and the others are very likely equally revealing as to numbers involved.
If the interest is money, then they should just refund the customer's money and not spend what they are currently on these transmissions being replaced knowing their failure rate is about that of the valve body. Look at the expense of doing that alone they'd save including the several trips involving dealer service expenses currently, they could repair the transmissions at their leisure rather than go through this pointless expense.

Back to Honda products
After being an owner of 5 Honda and Acura products, I bought the 04 Sienna and 07 ES. After the many issues with the Sienna and some issues on the ES, I am going back to Honda. Took my first step this past weekend. The wife is thrilled. (check my signature)
Lexus and Toyota better step up to the plate and get these issues resolved and start helping out these customers. Luckily, my tranny is ok. But, it angers me greatly to read what all of you are going through.
