Yes it is, thanks. We looked at the Highlander, but that has the same issues with the 3.3L engine and the hesitation that the Sienna had. So, back to Honda it was. We actually had more issues with the Sienna than the ES.

Perhaps and that is assuming it involves only 5 % which I strongly doubt. Our poll on the valve body was very revealing and the others are very likely equally revealing as to numbers involved.
If the interest is money, then they should just refund the customer's money and not spend what they are currently on these transmissions being replaced knowing their failure rate is about that of the valve body. Look at the expense of doing that alone they'd save including the several trips involving dealer service expenses currently, they could repair the transmissions at their leisure rather than go through this pointless expense.

sure, they could refund my money, but then the warranty issues will just continue with the next owner from ebay or wherever.
they've already opened a can of worms, but so long as it's not the majority of customers, they probably couldn't care less

3.6 billion, man...... and they can't make a bulletproof transmission.
I wonder how many more mechanical complaints there will be with the 2008 Highlander, since it will be using the same FWD 2gr-fe 6spd?

Sorry if I'm venting a little and this post is only somewhat on topic - I own a 2004 Corvette Z06 Commemorative Edition and I'm a member of 2 other forums for Z06's. It's interesting and VERY FUN to see how excited people are when they discuss their Corvette's and to participate in those threads. There are much fewer "negative" posts on those forums. I wish that this forum was just as much fun - there are smatterings of positive posts.
When I bought the ES last June (my first Lexus) I was thrilled with the car, the ride, the whole nine yards. SInce then I've come to observe that my ES experiences nearly all of the negative characteristics that have plagued others in this forum, with the exception of the rattling noises. By the way, I noticed these faults even before reading about them in this forum.
I owned 2 Nissan Maximas over the past 12 years before the ES, and loved both cars (175K miles on each one) - the only nagging issue that I had was the "frequent" O2 sensor replacement with the last one.
I still love the looks, the interior and the ride of the ES. Unfortunately I can now say that based upon my (and apparently others') negative experiences with this new ES (and Lexus as a company), it will be a long time before I'm convinced to purchase another Lexus. In fact, if I'm able to unload this car (buy back or lemon), I'll likely go after one of the new GS35's.

This is similar to converstaion I was having with friends last weekend. Whatever the number with this transmission issue, it will end up being double that number who will be subjected to this transmission issue. If it's 5 percent, it will be somewhere near 10, if it's 25 percent it will be 50 percent.
Cole's current situation is a direct indication of this.
