Checking out your New car
Hi Folks,
It's been a little while since I last dropped by here.
An ES-350 is still very much in the cards for me.
I am just a little gun-shy though after having read the wind-noise threads and others like it.
What I'd like to know is the protocol when you pick up your new car.
Can it be test-driven by you on the road?
I mean it's one thing to test drive ES-350's on the dealer's lot, but what about the car you are buying?
You are about to plunk down $40,000+ on new vehicle.
What if you drive your new ES-350 off the lot onto the highway and start hearing the dreaded wind noise or have some other serious problem surface immediately?
Can that be prevented?
I know you can visually inspect every nook and cranny of the vehicle, look under the hood, kick the tires etc. etc. but can you drive the vehicle you are about to pay good money for?
New cars will often have some mileage on the vehicle. I assume it's because they were test-driven by a mechanic. If someone else can test drive your vehicle before you buy it, can you do that as well?
TIA

I drove my car before I agreed to purchase, mostly because of the wind noise issue. Why wouldn't you take a car out for a spin that you are about to pay $40k for? Get it up to highway speeds.

I agree, the highway test is the only one that will reveal any wind noise issues or problems of that nature.
