Why doesn't the radio stay on after the ignition is turned off?

I'm not quite sure I understand your problem... can't you just turn from auto to off position? What am I missing here?

My delay is not set on shortest possible for headlights, so in order to out them when I turn off the car after dropping people off to go into store etc., they stay on for quite a while unless I open door after turning off car. If I do not open the door and instead push button for radio to play etc. they stay on.
The above is when I intend to wait in the car and listen to radio etc. while passengers have gone into store to pick up a few things.
I can just turn lights to off but it is usually so dark I cannot see where I have twisted the setting to on light control switch.
A much shorter delay setting should make it easier and so i don't have to fumble with light control in dark.
