My first flare

Heading to work this morning, I was driving stop and go traffic and all of a sudden at 2k rpm in jump for a split second. I couldn't replicate this flare again. The car has a little over 200 miles and the build date is 02/07. Oh well, I am still going to be positive about this since I know no car is perfect. I had my share of transmission problems with my previous Acura. Give me some love, guys...
oh chit. i didn't understand your post the first time.
I thought you said you had a 2000 rpm spike. that would be
If i understand you now, your tach needle made a small quick jump at the 2000rpm mark. I've seen that happen on my car once or twice, and I think it is within normal limits. Probably harmless. Nothing to worry about! I wouldn't count this as a 'normal' flare exhibited by the earlier builds

And ES may have actually meant 2k RPM spike-slip/flare as they will do that too. That level and as well at 1k plus is what is concerning to me for elderly and infant--very young occupants.
oso--seems you may hold the record for 2nd car trans issue showing itself, though I may want a photo finish as I did exactly what you did, tried to convince myself my 2nd car was not flaring and it started doing it right away and posted of it in my Halloween thread.
Gooch holds record for number of replacement trans going into original car---3, and currently holds duration record for 2nd car showing flare--just over 1,000 miles.

And here is another, if you get in the car with the AC blower fan already set on highest setting, that puppy has diesel engine knocking tapping at cold start, those clever dogs, set all that on high, radio volume up too.

^^^^ HAHAHA
And you wonder why there's an odd number of miles on your new car, like 13.8 miles... The porters run around every sales day and make them slip just once so they can get em off the lot!

So in some cases they do know of a vehicle issue and take measures to cloak stuff.

I am going to go drive by my dealer, If I see a bunch of ES's doing laps around the building at 7:00 a.m., I know what they are doing....LOL LOL

@dunnojack: 2k rpm spikes (and I mean a tach jump by 2000 rpms) were surely not the best morning experience in my previous ES ownership. But when my tranny got replaced with a new one, it came back within a week with 200 rpm jump; a week later it went up to 500 rpm and more. Of course, mine was very consistent, and dealership could recreated it without any effort. I probably hold my own record of 06/06 build with a first severe flare where Lexus engineers from West Coast had to fly over to examine it because they never seen that specific error-code which showed up during their diagnostics.

ahhh. so you can relax now.
Sometimes it will seem like the transmission will stick a little before switching to the next gear, esp when driving slowly or accelerating slowly, and you'll see that tiny baby spike. I still think it's within normal limits.

Both of mine first appeared as what we call baby flares roughly 200 RPM, progressing to more severe with the 2nd progressing faster than the first. It is something to be mindful of if it has happened even once so soon.

A comparison between two ES350 that “Flare”.
I’ve made a correlation table between my first car flare and this new car flare. The information shown below are actual drive days and do not include days the car sat in the garage.
The first day the car started to flare is shown as drive day number 1 and each consecutive day the car was driven counts as the next drive day as in 2 = 2nd drive day, 3 = 3rd drive day and so on.
First car: FDIM (First Drive In Morning, shifts are between 2400-2600 rpm’s)
Day Driven:
1 = FDIM a flare of 150 and 150 flare after work 9 hours later. At 1,433 miles
2 = FDIM 0
3 = FDIM 200
4 = FDIM 0
5 = FDIM 150
6 = FDIM 0
7-12 = FDIM 200
13 = FDIM 550
14-19 = FDIM 400
20 = FDIM 450
21-26 = FDIM 500
22 performed the “WOT” drive as posted on some threads.
23 = FDIM 150
24 = FDIM 0
25-26 = FDIM 200
27-31 = FDIM 400
32-33 = FDIM 600
34 = FDIM 1600
35-37 = FDIM 600
38-41 = FDIM 0 (trans is starting to hold 3rd gear for long time before shift to 4th)
42-43 = FDIM 200
Moving On: For the next 27 drive days the FDIM trans flare goes up and down from 0 to 600 RPM
On drive day 70 Start to drive the car more aggressively in town and on freeway as in first to leave the green light, punch it to get on the freeway ……..
71 = FDIM 50
72 = FDIM 200
73-74 = FDIM 0
75 = FDIM 400
76-77 = FDIM 0
78 = FDIM 50
79-81 – FDIM 0
82 = FDIM 200
83-88 = FDIM 0
89 = FDIM 300
90-92 = FDIM 0
