Nav update
Recently purchased a certified 2010 ES 350. Has the 9.1 Nav. version. Want to update to the 11.1 version. Any way of legally doing that w/o paying the dealer $250 to buy and install? Anywhere else to buy? Saw the post about prying off the front cover to get at the DVD insert. A helpless person like me will probably break the plastic, but guess I could try.
Many thanks!

Hi folks, thought I would drop by because I just purchased the latest NAV disk for our 2007 ES350.
It is disk U36 D, PT219-GEN05-11, (Ver 11.1)..
I removed it's Ver 11.1 loading.kwi file and re burned it with the old Ver 5.1 loading.kwi file in its place. It still works great. Now when I am driving my wife can reprogram GPS destinations while the car is moving and vice versa.
It even installed easier. For those of you who already have a modified disk installed that is using the old Ver 5.1 loading.kwi file all you have to do is remove your current NAV disk and insert the new Ver 11.1 NAV disk and it starts the first time. No disconnecting the battery cable to deplete the NAV system memory because the 5.1 loading.kwi file already in the NAV memory from your previously modified disk is identical to the one on the re burned Ver 11.1 disk. BTW, if it does not start up immediately turn off the ignition, wait a minute or two, and then turn it back on to restart/reboot the NAV system.
Whoever wrote those original instructions on how to burn and install the new disk did a great job because after all this time even I had to use them. (:

amf1932,
I don't know. How can you tell? I included a photo of the exact disk I received.
BTW, the disk I received has all the official printing and background color on it that is on my version 9.1 NAV disk that I purchased from my local lexus dealer. I never did update to the Version 10.1 NAV disk.
Best regards,
JerryF

I did notice that in my original post the web site URL address from where I purchased the disk no longer goes to the ad so I deleted the mention of it from my original post. Someone changed something!

All three of my disks 6.1, 9.1, and 11.1 look the same. They all have a mirror finish on the inter-ring in which I can see my face and I do not see a hologram moving around in any of the three disks. BTW, 6.1 came with the new car, 9.1 from an official Lexus dealership and 11.1 was purchased over the internet.

Also, some good quality counterfeit discs are very hard to tell from the genuine article.
In any case, good luck.

Disable Nav lockout in 2012
Anyone figure out how to disable the Nav (and other features) lockout in the newer models, like 2012 ES-350? Apparently the current problem is that the newer models use a flash or harddrive rather than a disk. If I recall correctly other manufacturers systems can be disabled electrically. Any thoughts on that possibility here?
Any chance someone has the wiring diagram for the 2012 radio/nav system? .

I'm trying to find out if the Nav Overide with a Hybrid disc will work in a 2008 ES
Some people say yes and some say the Hybrid disc only works on 2007 and older models.
Can anyone here with a 2008 ES confirm if the Hybrid disc worked for them?

A puzzle for all of you...
Okay, here's an interesting mystery. I burned a hybrid 11.1 disk with 5.1 loading.kwi. Wouldn't work at all, just kept getting the Japanese error message. So just to test the burning technology, I burned a copy of my original 7.1 disk, using Nero, and put it in, and sure enough, after about 10 seconds it went into the "LOADING" routine and loaded fine. I could then pop that disk out, and put in the 11.1 disk, getting the "Verifying DVD" message, and then I had the 11.1 maps and POI's, but no fingerdance override.
So I am puzzled. There seems to be no problem with my burning procedure or disks (DL Verbatim) but with a 5.1 Loading.kwi, none of the hybrid disks will load initially, although they will load AFTER another 7.1 or 11.1 disk loads with it's original Loading file.
Any thoughts? BTW, I have a 2008 ES350 ML audio model. I'd love to get this working before a road trip next weekend.

They talk about setting the book-type to DVD-Rom on the burning software. I'm having the same issue as you are and will try this when I get home. I'm using imgburn as my software.
