Yes all our car are made by Toyota manufacturing, but actually I was referring more to a structure like GM not today but years ago like in the 50’s when Cadillac & Olds had there own engineers (like Lexus) working on new technology for that day while the engineers for Chevy, Pontiac, (like Toyota band cars and trucks) was for the masses. I have no idea about Buick. Today GM is one group together, which probably is why there models seem the same over there. Oh and not forget about Saturn, which started out as a management experiment on there own. All under one GM manufacture name plate. I still think Lexus has a dedicated group of engineers for the Lexus luxury performance cars and a group of dedicated engineers for Toyota cars and truck lines. I have no idea about Scion.

The final cost of my 08/06 Kentucky produced 2007 Camry SE V6 was over $30k.
My car slips ("flares") the first time it shifts from 3rd to 4th after every engine start. (then works without flaw until the next engine start)
I don't like it.
I don't defend it.
This car by it's VIN# comes under TSB TC002-07, which says my transaxle needs to be replaced.
I've not pushed to have it replaced because most people who have this done still end up with the same problem, with just a few who say it made a difference.
I know my car will likely never be the same after it's gone through the major job of having a transaxle replaced.
So here I am with a car that I either have it messed up worse going through a "repair" that fixes nothing, and adds problems.
OR
Keeping it and driving it as it is, hoping it gets no worse.

I will not even consider having my transaxle replaced until I hear of the fix being reliable.

If a deer hadn't destroyed my 2002 Camry V6, which I was perfectly happy with, I wouldn't have bought this car in the first place.

Now I'm stuck with a car that though I owe less than $10k on, I don't want to spend the money it'll take to get out from under it.
If it weren't for this transaxle issue, this could be a great car, as I've been lucky as far as fit and finish and haven't had any of the less serious but annoying problems that other people have had.

Default Update - 4/16/07

Again, I didn't received a call back from Lexus Corp even though I was promised to get a call back on last friday. I left a message with the operator and later on the day, I did receive a call back from my specialist. She said that she contacted my dealership and said that my car is running as the way it was designed and there is nothing else they will do for me. At this point, I just flipped on her. I told her that I have to wait a whole week just for her to tell me that there is NOTHING that they are going to do with me. I gave a good piece of my mind about how the service that I received from my dealership and her SUCKS! I even told her that I went to another dealership for a second opinion and the tech even said that there is a design flaw with the ES. Basically, I wanted her to understand that I spend $40k for a defective car that can't be repaired and I have to live with it. No freaking way. I just to her that I am not going to tolerate this anymore. I told her TAKE THE CAR BACK. BUY IT BACK. Enough is enough. She told me that she will look further and see if a buy back is an option and will call me in 3 - 5 business days. I know she won't call me back, so I will be on the phone with her again by the end of the week to see if she will come through with this.

ESDragon - reading your current update is basically exactly how I felt back in Sept\Oct\Nov last year. It isn't a good feeling and I don't remember that as a good time. I'm sure it's frustrating beyond belief.

I hope you get your buyback, I really do. I remember from some of your earlier posts about how excited you were to get this car... and now this. I'm at 26,000 kms now and its still slipping every day. My car will be traded soon so I won't have to put up with mine for much longer. Unfortunately the next person who buys the car will just pick up where I left off.

I had the same conversation that you did today, with Lexus here months ago. I now believe this all comes down to your dealer and what they'll do for you. If they say they'll fight for a buyback you will almost certainly get it. If your dealer points you to Lexus for restitution or to 'satisfy' you I think you're in trouble.

you really have to arm yourself with lemon law tactics. try to get a video of it, even if that means running your video camera plugged into the car's electric outlet until the tape runs out, or depleting the battery. Keep taping and rewinding. rinse & repeat until you catch the abnormal behavior.

try your best to manipulate the situation so that you can get the 2 repairs necessary for lemon law buyback.
