Default MP3 player in ES?

I have a Sansa 1GB MP3 player I had intentions of using it in my ES350. I bought the appropriate cable and connected the player and cable inside the glove box but cannot get it to be recognized and/or played from the sound system (normal sound system radio). I tried the radio's AUX setting.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

hmmm, did you turn up the volume? I use a Creative Zen mp3 player and when I want to play songs through it, I have to usually turn up the volume significantly through the player and the stereo system in the car.

Yep, I turned up the MP3 player's volume to its max as well as the max setting on the ES350 radio. Heard nothing on AUX other than hissing at the high volume levels.

Any other thoughts?
I guess I could try a different MP3 player to see if it is a problem with the Sansa. I have/use a 2-ended stereo audio cable that plugs into the Sansa on one end and into th ejack in the glove box on the other end.

Turn down the volume on your MP3 player, plug in the headphones, and see if it works that way. If it does, talk to your car dealer.

ya the aux port should be able to play anything that can be hooked to a headphone...i.e. MP3 player, laptop, portable DVD player etc. I wish there were a way to connect an external device and close the armrest. Maybe they have a flat ribbon version of the audio cable???

I connect my I-Pod Shuffle, turn it on and close the center console. You don't see anything and the volume is controlled through the steering wheel.

About connecting any thing through the headphone jack, I can't play my Motorola MP3 phone. I use the adapter to convert the jack to the proper size. But, no sound.
