I was looking for the unusual traits thread, but couldn't find it, so I started a new thread.

Has anyone else noticed the piece of elastic at the top-front of the glove box? It appears to work with the little 'shelf' in the back right to make a place to store the bulky owners manual kit. Put the back of the manual on the shelf and stretch the elastic around the front & viola. I didn't notice this documented in the owners manual & only found it by accident over the weekend.

Personally, I think it's kind of a hack/afterthough when someone realized that the owners manual didn't fit well in the glove box. (Let's just put a piece of elastic here in this 40K car). However, it does store the owners manual out of the way a little bit more and make the glove box a little more usable when the owners manual is in it.

Atleast you have something like that in your glove... My manual is too bulky to fit in my glove... So it's in the trunk...

I don't know whether the Owners Manual kit is the same size for the UL Edition or cars equipped with NAV? Maybe it's thicker, due to the extra manuals? I tried putting in the leather kit into my glove box and found it too large......it took up almost the whole glove box, so I ended up putting it in the trunk.

My manual is tucked away in the trunk too. Too big for the glove compartment. I did leave the quick reference booklet in the glove box, but haven't really had to use it much.

The owners manual + nav, etc is about 2.5 x 7 x 9.

It doesn't leave much room in the glove-box. About 1.5 inches below & 5 inches beside the manual. I don't keep much more than the owners manual a few napkins/micro-fiber towel, a small pad of paper, a tire guage and a spare pair of glasses in there.

I keep my manual leather kit under the driver's seat. I insert it from the back seat so that it won't slip out and lodge itself under the gas or brake pedals.
