I've read the threads about hacking the Nav system so it's workable even when driving, but this is something I also find annoying:

If I do anything at all... back up, make a phone call, whatever... the screen comes back to the Nav screen. If I've already "accepted" it, then I see the map; if I haven't I see the "do you accept this" screen. Either way, I don't want this. I want to back up, or make a phone call, and then get back to the screen I was on... generally XM radio or CD player. NOT the Nav screen.

Is there a simple way to accomplish this?

Yes, there is a setting on all Lexus NAVIs to switch off the "default return to NAVI screen." It should be in options>settings or something like one of those menus. Just switch off the default setting, and it will stay on whatever screen you last left it on...AC/Radio/etc.

No, that's not what I mean. If that setting is changed to "on", it just means that when you're driving, the screen always goes back to the map, no matter what, after about 30 seconds. If you turn that to "off" (which I have), then the screen stays on, say, "CD" or "XM".... but if you make a phone call or back up, THEN the screen switches to the map (or the "Do you agree" screen). That's what I'm trying to avoid. Each time I make a call, after the call it's back to the map, not back to XM or wherever I was at.

Ah, we had a similar question like that on the LS 430 board IIRC. That's a toughie, I'm not sure how that would work, I think it switches to the map automatically then for those instances.

I know exactly what you're talking about...and yup it annoys me too...but I've learn to accept it for what it is. And no, I've yet to find a way around it...
