Hello,
I recently purchased a silver 2007 ES 350. Despite my best efforts to drive the car carefully, it was subjected to a storm of pebbles and gravel from one of those annoying rock trucks (which, in my opinion, should be banned from the public roads unless they have covers on the back.) Anyway, there is now a small paint chip on the hood of the car and a few light scratches all over from the debris.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I can go to get these fixed? I don't want to go to a body shop that will repaint the entire hood of this new car, nor do I want an aftermarket hood. I'm looking for a factory solution, if possible. Any ideas?
Also, what can we do to minimize this type of damage (besides leaving the cars in the garage.) I heard about a 3M protective cover that seemingly prevents such things.
Your input is appreciated.

You may be able to get the light scratches out with rubbing compound. I'd ask the dealer for suggestions what to do about the bigger chip.
Did you get the license number of the truck, or did it have the contractor's name on it? Did you report the incident to the police? I don't see any reason why they shouldn't pay for the damage they caused. And it may well have been illegal to operate the truck in such a dangerous way.

My wife drives an '07 ES350 and it has numerous (to say the least) rock chips. I've never seen a vehicle's paint chip this easily. She must have 20 or 30 chips on the front.

The paint on these cars is soft. I have numerous chips in the front, touching up with the Lexus paint touch up. Also, be careful in using rubbing compound, the paint scratches easily with the agressive compounds. Use a polish on any marks.

Talk to the dealer. Mine offers small paint chip repair as part of their detailing package...included in the price. I think mine charges like $250. Next time I'm up there I plan to ask them if they can fix all my chips. Doubtful at best.
