Default Chrome Vs. Polished/hyper Silver

Hey fellow LEXO / ES350 owners. I've had my ES now for about a month and it's time to start dressing it up a bit.

Just this past weekend I added tint to all windows (Except Windshield) with a 3M carbon series tint at 35% all around. Tint REALLY makes this car more attractive, IMO.

Now, for the real question.

I am in a tug-o-war battle on making a decision on my wheels. I have to decide whether to go with the Chrome or Polished/Hyper Silver. Right now I have the E-Sport wheels which unfortunately the dealer refused to remove them off of my car during my time of purchase but I got them during the negotiation period. I basically negotiated the price of the wheels off of the purchase price. Anyway, that's not even the point. The point is the E-Sport wheels comes in, I think, Hypersilver and the shine on it is pretty nice. Nicer than I thought. Although I was dying to get a new set of 20's which I originally thought I was deadset on some chrome wheels but now I am AFRAID of the "Ghetto" look. Because of the nature of the car which is obviously targeted for a "Luxury" sedan, the chrome 20's worry me a bit.

I've seen alot of examples of the GS and LS picture rollin on chrome but nothing much of the ES350 samples. Poor ES, always gets outshined by the "other" Lexus models!! Darnitt!!

I have gone to the other forum of posted ES pics but not enough input on this matter. BTW, I have a pic of my Ruby Red on there

Anyway, please offer your opinion for I am at a fork in a road that I need some input about which road to take, Chrome or Silver.

Thanks for the help in advance!!!

Check out e-bay motors - they have chromed versions of the Ultra's wheels for sale on ES350 parts and accessories. Looks very nice.

With the right design, any car could look decent with chrome wheels.

I'd say go for it.

Ruby red with dark tints?

I would try to find smoked/dark chromes. That would be hot!

Talking I went for chrome

here in Dade County "305" its all about chrome feet! It's not "ghetto" unless you lift the car like a monster truck and slap some 26's on it. My motto... Biggest that FIT!

I live in south florida and big giant wheels, especially spinners are ghetto...especially on a Lexus. This is just my opinion and anyone else can do what makes them happy and I'll still break bread with them.

Th ES350 is a classy car and I think chrome 19 or 20's would work best. If not chrome a shiny silver finish. JMLexus sells a brand of wheels called Forgetec and they put these in 20 on the ES350. They look really nice.

Don't discount ride quality - I think anything over 18's on an ES will have a huge impact. Plus...assuming overall tire diameter doesn't change much, a larger wheel + smaller sidewall profile gives the illusion of a lot more gap in the wheel wells.

Personally...and I haven't always felt this way, I must be getting old....I think chrome is best reserved for domestic trucks & SUV's. I really prefer polished or painted finishes on cars, particularly sedans.

Have you roamed around tirerack.com or any of the other big wheel sites? That might give you some ideas to bounce around. Also - don't forget the TPMS.

For those Sopranos viewers, I can't imagine the damage Meadow did to the wheels when she tried to park her IS350 in the last scenes. My UL graphite wheels, just a minor touch on the curb scarred them.

Lexus shoulda bought an ad slot for the LS instead of the IS.
Then maybe she wouldn't have had to parallel park herself.

I didn't realize this was your car until I saw your thread. Sorry if I offended you with my earlier post. I still don't think it's a good look but I don't like saying things too harshly. Oh, welcome to CL. Most of the time we're really cool around here.

ayyy no such thing as bad publicity! I never hate. And maybe if you seen me drive by with the rims floating looking like a space ship... you'd appriciate them more! I get nothing but love on the streets... pics just dont do my ride justice!
