Hey Lowrider--yep that be Roseville, CA...although I technically live next door (figuratively speaking) in Rocklin. I'm rolling in an UL ES 350--I think I've seen one or maybe two (at most) other ULs out on the streets in my area in the 10 months (so far) that I've had my UL...and maybe no more than 3 or 4 ULs elsewhere TOTAL during that time...where are all the ULs hiding out (LOL!!!)???

We should have a Sac-area ES 350 mini meet or sumthin'...LOL!!!

ULs are rare anywhere. So far in the last 12 months I have seen probably 7 ULs in Los Angeles, and I see about 10 Premium ES350 per day. I look for the special rims and move my eyes upwards.

Back to the 87 topic. I went through a whole tank. No difference at all. No ping, no stutter, no decreased gas mileage. I went back to Premium 91 again, since gas price dropped to $3.37 for premium 91, and I have a Shell card that rebates 5%. So that's about $3.20 net...I can live with that.

The roof would be a dead giveaway, since it's not too difficult to spot the cutout for a regular ES moonroof; theoretically anyone could slap UL rims on a non-UL ES if he/she had available resources to do so...it's quite another story to try and retrofit a panoramic moonroof on a non-UL, though.

As far as 91-octane gas prices go--my local 76 is currently selling it for $3.169/gallon...I suspect however that prices will probably start inching upwards come mid-July, if not sooner...

Default What fuel do you put in your ES 350?

I use 85 grade regular unleaded, in Colorado it is oxygenated, and thus the lower rating. With the altitude adjusted, I think this is comparable to 87 octane at sea level. Lexus recommends premium fuel, only. But I notice no issues with the 'cheap stuff'. How 'bout you?

I decide to use premium gas for the first 1000 mile. Then, after that, regular.

Is there a logical reason for using higher octane fuel and then switching? I remember hearing in the past that engines become accustomed to premium fuel, and changing grades can cause issues as opposed to just using the cheapest fuel that the engine runs well on...

Default Regular fuel for 2010

The 2010 V6 engine uses premium fuel but the 2011 V6 uses regular fuel. Anyone know how to change the 2010 engine to run on regular fuuel?

You do not have to "change" anything - just run it. I resisted using regular for quite some time. Now I do not know why. No apparent difference in performance.

After reading several post regarding the use of regular fuel, I finally switched to 87. No difference at all in performance or mpg. The only difference is it is about .20 cents cheaper! My wife had a Nissan Pathfinder and the dealer told us as soon as we bought it that the manual calls for 92 octane, he told us to run it on 87 as there is absolutely no difference at all with the exception of about 4hp. If you can feel 4hp its all in your head!

I've used regular from day 1 in my '10
