Default Pics of the boss' car

[Sorry...pics removed.]

The mod list is fairly short, and I actually think it's complete. We (well, I...) briefly considered a set of 18" wheels, but we really like the look of the graphite stockers against the tungsten finish...plus the ride quality is perfect as-is. Anyway, it's got the 3M film ('premium' kit from Clear Armor) and 35% tint from the same shop. I painted the front license plate holder and debadged the decklid. Otherwise, it's stock and there's nothing else either of us would really like to do. I love the exterior styling of the car, and the interior is absolutely perfect.

Thus far the finish has only seen two coats of Four Star UPP sealant, and I've applied a couple of coats of Poorboy's wheel sealant to make brake dust removal a bit easier.

The car looks great!!! The only comment I have, would off been a tad better to go with 20% tint (at least on a rear window) so it would blend in with UL roof If you going to consider changing to 18", something with a 5-spoke design can give a sportier look. But, this is a classy looking car and 17" looks just fine!!!

Thanks!

I briefly considered 20% as it does look awesome. But - since any tint on the front windows is illegal, I didn't want to push my luck. And I wanted the front & rear windows to match. In some of the pics above I made it a point to feature the roof, but in reality the roof isn't a strong focal point. I guess if you're tall or viewing from a big SUV that'd be different.

When I drive to southern California I'm amazed at how many folks are running 20% - and darker - but up here it's pretty rare. The other thing that folks tend to forget is the effect it has on night visibility.

FWIW, here's the wheel I picked out. The O.Z. Tribe Evo @ Tire Rack:

The Mrs.' even liked them, but she likes her ride quality better and we couldn't justify the expense. Especially with the miles she drives. The car is only four months old an has 10k miles on it.

Nice tint there. I got myself 40% all-round. Wanted 35% but didn't want to push it too much, plus my car has a grey interior. Make sure you post more pics when you install your new wheels. I am thinking of getting some 18", but I guess I will hold off it for a bit.

This is how it would look with 20% all around and UL roof:

This is not my car. If you follow the link, it was posted last year by "cablonde" who's no longer visiting this forum.

This used to be my w/35% tint:

But, luckily I went through 2 failed trannies and a buyback to get into my GS350. This one is not getting tinted. It was too much hassle back when I had my ES w/35%. Since its illegal in NJ to tint front windows, I had to pull them down everytime I cross police check point. Plus, NJ State inspection will not pass you with a front tint, and that would had to be removed and than reapplied again. Too much hassle. But I recall there were no issues with 35% visibility. If I ever decide to go with a tint, probably going to be huperoptic 50% just to keep the car cooler inside without too much of dark tinting.

Hey Jerry--nice to see you posting over here now! Great to see that good ol' Jerry detail magic do its thing on the Missus' ES!!!

FWIW--I contemplated going 20% all-around but my bro talked me out of it, telling me that he wouldn't give me the family discount if I got pulled over for front-window tint violation and as such, needed to have the front window tint removed and retinted--LOL!!!

Thanks, Tony. Great to see you here too....small world, eh?

35% definitely seems like the perfect all-around compromise. No complaints whatsoever on the tint.
