Default Big changes for the 2008 ES350

For 2008 the ES350 gets new sideview mirrors and interior rear lights.

That's all folks!

Alan said "changes". Those will actually carry over to the 08's, as there is still no fix.

After a run nearing a year and a half I would have thought Lexus could have done better such as having front over head lighting and a more user friendly seat heater switch location.

Perhaps the re-designed mirrors will help the wind noise but it sounds like the cold engine clatter and tranny flare will continue to be a standard feature for 08.

whats wrong with the position of the seat heaters? I thought they were pretty accessible, but you do have to bend your arm a little.

i hope that the mirros get signal lights, but probably not.

Is it possible to install a rear reading light button on our 07' model? I knew I wanted it when I bought my 07' ES.

I've Always Wondered What Is The % Of Es That Has The Tranny Problem. I Guess I Am 1 Of The Lucky Owners That Has A Problem-free Es350. No Transmission Flare. No Cold Engine Noise (maybe It's Not Cold Enough To Have That Problem To Occur). The Only Thing I Wasn't Impressed Was The Base Stereo System On The Es(didn't Have Extra $7000 To Pay For The Ml/navi Pack). I Recently Installed A Lineage 4 Guage Universal Grounding Wire Kit To My Es. I Found The Car Starts Much Faster Right After I Push The Engine Starter. Also, The Sound Quality Of The Audio Somehow Improves A Little Bit. That's All I Can Tell Now. I Will Find Out More About If The Gas Milage Improves Or Not Maybe Next Week.

This is my opinion on the tranny flare. I would say about 50% of them have the horrible 3rd/4th slip (flare) that is very noticable. All of the cars have some kind of minor flare (200 rpm or less) during certain driving conditions. Some owners don't notice it, others do. Some owners don't even know what a flare is per a poll thread I created on this site. It is a characterisitic of the transmission. I am sure others will disagree with me, but I have driven 7 different ES's and all of them flare some way or another.

So, yes, this tranny will be standard equipment on the 08s. And Lexus is kind enough to give us some flares for no extra charge!

As to the engine knock, the colder it is outside, the worse it is. Let it sit outside in below freezing temps for 24 hours and see what happens.

Default Rear Reading Light Button

The overhead reading light in the back of the car can be turned on or off by pressing on the button that is to the top of the memory 3 button on the overhead console.

the common problem with the new lex's is the stupid led lights are too dim.

They should put some extra lights or brighter lights.

Base price on the '08's is going up $250 or .7%. The article didn't mention anything about options or packages, but they could increase separately.

I picked up the 08 brochure while at the dealer for TSIB service and there will also be a new set of "BBS" style sport rims. Also looked like they may have changed the piece of chrome above the rear license plates a little but I'm not positive. I would post some pictures but I just got rid of my scanner

I have been holding off on car purchase until the ES 2008's in order to avoid a transmission problem. Is that wishful thinking? I have a 2000 ES 300 and am considering the Acura RL and Volvo s80 as alternatives to risking a problem car
