I like to have the 15K, 30K etc done at the dealer, the short services go to my Toyota dealer for about $27, DO NOT LET GREASE MONKEY, OR THE LIKE USE A NON TOYOTA FILTER! Non Toyota filters do not have a check valve in the filter which prevents loss of prime in the filter when the engine is shut off. THIS IS CRITICAL TO REDUCE ENGINE WEAR!
With this life time tire package the dealer should have a brochure that states the rules, I've seen maintenance packages from Toyota and they are just 5k oil changes, basic oil and lube and top off fluids, the 15k,30k or 60k maintenace is completely extra, why I passed

I would save your money. The dealer will install "comparable" tires on your car, and you have no say in the decision. In other words, you get whatever is on sale that week. Also, read the fine print. I bet you're still paying for mounting, balancing, disposal, etc. These programs often require regular alignments, etc. as well.
These types of "deals" are usually in the same group as paint/interior protection, service contracts, and the like - that is, a big ripoff for the consumer and a huge profit center for the dealership. Think about it. If they weren't making a killing on these things, they wouldn't push them so hard.

[quote=EDGE2;2884166]Any of the new Toyotas or Lexus vehicles with the oil filter housing that replaces the old canister filter do not have check valves their just a paper filter
This is incorrect! Also, the grammer is incorrect! (their?)

[QUOTE=amf1932;2888788]350Dave said I was wrong when I said the filter element had no check valve in it, I've changed the oil several times and the filter I buy from toyota is just the paper, it was never about what material it was

Tires for life
The tires for life program is a joke. At the local dealership they also require you to have all the scheduled services (oil changes @ $189...) no real bargain!! Also, you have to wait until the tires are down to 3/32". At 3/32" you can't keep the car on the road.
I hope this helps...
