2008 vs 2007 ES 350
Just saw the 2008's. Trying to determine whether to buy a 2008 or a 2007. Main factor that would turn the table is whether it is more likely that the 2008's would not have the problems (esp transmission problems) of the 2007's.
What would you do?

I wonder if there is any difference in the transmissions in late build '07's and early build '08's? In all probability they very well could have used the same transmission out of existing factory inventory for both during the model year change over. Since there is so little difference between the '07's and 08's, it might just come down to price. Good luck with your decision.

Since no 2007 UL's appear to be available (or they are very limited) I suggest that you buy a 2008 UL. IN MY OPINION getting all the goodies change the ES from utilitarian (like the loaners or the guy who was looking for a roof rack for his non SUV Lexus, pul-eeez) to a real luxury car.

There is one exception, if you drive a lot of miles, if you get the 07, you will even out in the end. Buying an 08 early and piling on miles...you will always have a high mile unit.
Good luck!

Its all a matter of opinion. If you pick up the 07, it is true you will be able to pick it up at a better pricebut you will be buying a year old car even tho it is new.
Looking back at the posts, it does seem like the later 07's do not have the same, or at least as many, transmission issues as the earlier builds.
The selection for the 07's may be limited and may force you to purchase what is available. By purchasing the 08, the selection will be better, and you can get the ES of your choice.
If it was me,(being a very picky purchaser, I would pay more for the 08 and get EXACTLY what I want and not settle for less.....if it's not available at your dealer...have him find one for you. 40+k is a little much to spend on something if it isn't just what you want.

I'm in the same boat as you, so to speak. I made the decision, after reading all the posts on this site over the last year, to purchase an '08.'
The reasons being are essentially this, even though there may be little change from '07' to '08': most bugs worked out; newer car for resale whenever that occurs; wider choice and/or built to order; and, other reasons that may have been mentioned in this thread or others.
In any event, I trust you'll be satisfied in your own decision, whatever that may be.

yes, depend how much discount you get on the 07, I was offered with $5700 off MSRP with the Premium package with the exact color/interior I wanted, so I decided to go with the 07, it has a build date of 07/07.
