Rattling sound coming from engine??
Thanks for looking. I just purchased my 07' Lexus back in july, and have noticed a rattling sound coming from the engine. When ever I first start my car like in the mornings, and head off I always hear a rattling sound coming from the engine. Does anybody else have this problem? Should I take it to my dealership and have it checked? Thanks in advance.

I suggest you take it to your dealer and have them check the bolts on the center heat shield. I have heard of two cases of this heat shield being just a little bit loose and causing such a noise.

One of the complaints against the ES350 has been the noisy operation of the engine when it is cold. A search for engine noise will pull up lots of posts.
It may be that this normal characteristic is what you're hearing. If it goes away after a few minutes then this is probably the case. If it really bothers you or doesn't go away then a trip to the dealer is in order. That's the only way to be sure.

The lack of hearing that noise every day is the best part of trading out of my car though it/they had other issues on top of the valves doing that. Who knows, maybe they will come out with a valve TSIB as someone indicated months ago they might as they did for LS.
