Tire Inflation Light
My orange light came on a few days ago. I could not get it to go off after several attempts to reset it. The service advisor told me on the phone that I probably have a nail in a tire, even thought all 4 looked great. After looking at each tire very carefully, I noticed a nail in my right rear tire. I took it to NTB to get it plugged and the light went off by itself once it was mounted to the car.
About 125 miles later, the light is on again. I try to reset it, wait for it to flash 3 times, etc. and it does not go off. I cannot find another nail in a tire. All tires are fine on air.
Any suggestions?

Check the air pressure in your spare tire as well. If you just use the reset procedure with a low tire I believe you will be setting the system to recognize the low pressure in one or more tires as the normal or baseline condition.
Was the tire with the nail in it low when you discovered the nail? You might also check the valve cores for leaking especially if the car or the tires are fairly new.

No, the tire was not low. The nail went through, but no air was leaking. The system was really never reset because everytime I try to do it, the light never goes out to set the new baseline. It blinks 3 times and then stays on.
I will check the spare in the morning, as well as the other 4 tires again.
One side note: At 10K miles, the TSIB for the tire inflation monitor was performed (up under the headliner). I now have 19K miles. Maybe there is some kind of malfunction?
Nevertheless, can't spend much more time on this. I'll leave it at Lexus and drive a loaner until they can figure it out.
Thanks

Well, today I measured the air on all 5 tires. The spare was at 24 and I pumped it to about 31. I then tried to reset the light and it went off!! Keep your fingers crossed that it stays off!
Thanks for your help.

There are sensors on the valve stems which transmit to a monitor (located under the headliner on the ES 350). If one or more tires is low on air, an orange lights appears on the dash. The full size spare has a sensor too.
There is more to it, but that is a simple explaination.

What is the TSB you are referring to MD350? I'm afraid the Forum's sticky thread of TSB's is becoming sadly out of date. The listing shows nothing new at all for '07. There must be some out there somewhere aren't there? Anyone able to give Twister some help with his TSB thread?

The engine does not have to be running - the ignition must be on 2nd level (full accesory power). Leave the ignition on for about 20 - 30 seconds after the 3rd flash to allow time for each of the 5 sensors to communicate with the CPU.
