Cold start engine noise

I am one of many with the cold start engine noise. Sounds like dieseling. A distinct rattle of the valves until the engine warms to near normal. Dealers know about it but avoid it like the plague.

Welcome to the forum!! Yep, I have it too. It is a "normal" charaterisitic of the car, per Lexus. Unacceptable under my standards. But, I live with it.

Ditto MD350. When people ask what's wrong with your car, tell them its a Lexus and it's considered normal noise. Ask them "doesn't your car sound like this?".

Take a copy of the TSIB issued for LS owners for the same thing and ask they perform the same repair to your ES. It's worth a try, though not one person has been offered a repair for this that I am aware of.
