Default Flares after build date July 07 poll

Hello,

I trying to get a better perspective about the flare problem by build date. I had thought that Lexus fixed the problem prior to July but I'm not certain. The build date is shown on the drivers door jam.

Thanks,
Scott

My build date is 07/07. I have had major flares (800+ rpm) a couple-few times (cold engine) and minor flares (200-300 rpm) somewhat regularly (even with warm engine).

I'm thinking about buying a 2008 ES or a competitor. From what I've read, when a major or minor flare occurs in the ES, the tach needle jumps and the engine races briefly during a shift. Does anything else noticeable happen? Do you happen to know what the earliest build date is for the 2008 ES?

I test drove one a week or two ago. Had major flares. Should be fairly recent build date.

While it had major flares (over 1000 rpm spike), I wouldn't have noticed except for the fact that I had one eye on the tach and was looking for them. Didn't feel a thing.

I think I can live with minor flares. The big ones worry too much about long term damage.

If I test-drive an ES and notice a major flare, I'll tell the salesman, "I'll buy the base ES in Obsidian with the Premium Plus Non-Flare Transmission Package."
