This to me, in this application, is a good enough reason to switch.

I changed over after the free Lexus oil change to Mobil One. Still have the cold engine knock noise at 10,000 miles, third oil /filter change since new (we go by time - 4 months).

Thumbs up

I too have always done the switch at the 10,000 (16,000 Km) mark. Never had any issues with oil consumption whatsoever.

Also, you don't have to change as often with synthetic. The time might be worth more than the money.
That, and the fact that you're not contributing as much used oil back into the environment...

regular dino oil, part synthetic blend, or full synthetic is what you'll see out there for regular street cars. Dino oil is the cheapy stuff from the $20 oil changes. Change every 3000 miles, etc. Synthetic is the stuff that can last longer btw oil changes and what race cars normally use cuz of the higher performance all around.

It costs $80 total, and lemme say....I am sticking with synthetic from now on. The cold light knocking sound is completely gone. The car runs soooooo much smoother and engine is noticibly quieter. I think it's a good switch.
If you saw the NBC investigative report exposing how EZ Lube ripped off customers, you wouldn't use EZ Lube and reputable in the same sentence.

Yeah, EZ Lube was particularly bad. Prolly one of the worst fraud cases I've ever seen due to their persistence. Can't even blame a rogue regional manager at that point. CA needs to shut that company down permanently instead of just fining them.

Even when punished, they lied to customers about it. Didn't say they were being punished but instead claimed they were doing "training."

http://www.knbc.com/news/9897560/detail.html - that's what's currently going on. Couldn't quickly find the links to the old stories. Basically though, for the past 3 years, Joel Grover kept going to EZ Lube stores and finding fraud at most of their locations. EZ Lube would say sorry and promise to fix it. He'd follow up and find out they're still ripping people off. I believe they got strike 3 at this point.

Jiffy Lube isn't so hot either.
