On cheaper cars, the wind noise at highway speeds can be unbearable with the moonroof open. I forgot to check this on my test drive of the 2008 ES.
Does the interior remain reasonably quiet with the moonroof open at highway speeds (65-75). Thanks

Which model ES, because the UL cars have a glass panel roof?
Speaking for the UL, I don't experience a lot of wind noise with the sunroof open. However, when traveling at highway speeds, I tend to perfer to keep it closed and use the climate control.

Pretty sure the UL is the loudest I've ever heard on any of the cars I've owned (that had a moonroof).
For sure it's louder than my old BMW the Lexus replaced. I'm pretty sure it's louder than my old Civic, altho it's been quite some time since that one. I was actually quite shocked at how loud the moonroof is. I dunno if it's cuz the rest of the car is so quiet that it seems louder, but I was definitely surprised at how loud the wind noise is.
I'm ok with it cuz I probably only open it once a year. If that. I just like moonroofs for the light they let in (and to check for cops in airplanes and helicopters).

I'll try it eventually. We did get it for the looks (primary reason we got the UL package). Unfortunately, it's been raining for the past 2 weeks. Today looked like a freaking typhoon out there.
In the summer time, when it's 110+, we'll open it often to air out the car. Never opened the BMW much b/c the moonroof on an E46 3 series has a bad tendency to break (actually did on our car). Same with the side windows so I barely used them too. I don't have such a fear with the Lexus.

I think some others have been more blessed than I with their prior cars. My UL panoramic roof makes far less noise open at 75 MPH than the one on my '66 VW Beetle did at 25 MPH.

I've had the sun/moon roof open, during summer/spring, on the fwy. doing 65-70mph many times and it is a very enjoyable ride. I've had similar experiences on previous cars that had factory sun/moon roofs.

My last 5 series BMW was much quieter than the huge glass roof on my ES either open tilted or open fully. I was surprised at the noise for such an expensive car. I also feel there is much to much noise coming from the drivers door area for a car of this class but have been told "They're all like that"!

Cuz otherwise, you're not disagreeing. The panny moonroof might be the quietest out of all your past Lexuses. He's just saying it's noisier than the moonroof on his old 5 series BMW. It's also a hell of a lot noisier than the moonroof on my old 3 series. maybe it's an improvement over previous lexus moonroofs, but it sounds like it's noisier than BMW moonroofs.

My UL roof is quieter than my old Miata convertable
Seriously, it's not loud at all.... I feel it's very comfortable.... I need to open it more often.... This car has so many features that I just forget to use.
