I used Castrol Syntec on the BMW, but that's only cuz BMW uses a Castrol oil for their OEM oil.
Mobile 1 is fine.
The ES runs regular dino oil so any synthetic is fine. Even the fake synthetic.
If you want to go overboard, then look for full synthetic vs. synthetic blend.
Even more overboard, make sure the bottle says it's ACEA A3/B3 vs just ACEA A1/B1. Meaning Mobile 1 0w-40, Castrol 0w-30, and (I think) Redline/royal purple/Amsoil's 5w30. Elf has some too, but good luck finding that brand.

I attribute that more to amazing Japanese engines back in the day. Friend's family had an 80s (or early 90's) Corolla that barely had any oil changes. I think it was like an oil change every 30,000 miles or something like that. Was still running fine at 150,000+ miles.

Here's a fellow that went 1,000,000 miles on dino oil.
