[QUOTE=jruhi4;3255899]ES Pebble Beach® Edition
The sleek ES 350 Pebble Beach Edition is available in the exclusive Truffle Mica color, as well as Tungsten Pearl Silver and Obsidian Black. The 7-spoke 17-inch wheels come with an exclusive liquid graphite finish while the interior of the ES features semi-aniline leather and a wood and leather steering wheel. The ES Pebble Beach Edition also features The Lone Cypress™ logoed floormats and special Pebble Beach Edition badging on the front fenders.

No matter how they dress it up, until they get the fundamentals right....transmission flare, engine knock, rattles, it will just be another inferior car.

It's a bit to early in the ES350 model cycle to be offering the Pebble Beach edition. Usually these packages are not offered until the final model year or two.

I never had a problem with the Coach edition. I liked how it offered stuff you couldn't get with other ES models, primarily the leather (which Coach is known for).

However, with the UL package already around, the Pebble Beach edition doesn't offer anything special.

Yeah, so what's the point? This sounds like something a marketing group came up with to generate buzz yet has nothing of value to offer anyone.

I think generating some buzz is the key. There's a lot of competition from new cars in this segment (CTS, G35, MKZ etc.) maybe Lexus felt the need for a little more buzz at a minimal cost.

The agreement to do this may have been reached over a year plus ago before issues were known, if not, and this is a more recent decision then the marketing department of Pebble Beach will have some explaining to do to their bosses about missing the issues and people being mortified about quality problems.

From what I saw listed this package costs roughly 3,800, I don't see any real return for that money.

$3800?!?! Holy cow! Well, after I think about it, it's not too surprising, but that's a serious rip off for what little you get.

The PBE ES350 isn't my cup of tea, but with a total of 6,000 cars divided among all of the dealers in the U.S. and Canada(?) they'll probably sell and just be a blip on the radar.

They should have offered a Ventura Beach version instead.

I guess the only people who will want it is if you have been badge hounding for a Pebble Beach badge or have an insatiable craving for "truffle Mica" paint. Otherwise just pay the difference and get Ultra Lux and all the extra stuff.

My mom has a Coach Edition RX from 2001 and the leather is still really nice quality top grain stuff. Way nicer than the standard RX leather at the time because we looked at both.

Perhaps, but seeing how the ES is essentially a more-luxurious Camry...yet the Camry can be had in an "SE" trim that includes lower front/rear/side skirts and offers a slightly-stiffer suspension (vs. LE)...and that no one would ever confuse a Camry's performance to that of an IS or GS nor view a Camry as a sports-oriented sedan...I can't see why it wouldn't make any sense to give the ES a slightly-sportier appearance/performance if one desires. Heck--the low-profile factory rear spoiler would technically be considered more of a sport-oriented accessory item rather than a luxury-based accessory item, yet it can be had on the ES...neverminding the fact that it probably serves no practical functional purpose. IOW--one could argue that the rear spoiler serves no functional purpose being on an ES, yet it is available as a factory option.

ES350 should be marketing out to tennis instead of golf...since lexus sponsors tennis tournaments..... X_X i think that would have been a great marketing strategy... get 2 yonex raquets and other tennis gear.... would've been cheaper than golf clubs....
