We put around $3,000 down, payment is $602 with all taxes and the optional dealer "tire / wheel / dent protection" package I did not want but my wife wanted for '07 Ultra ES350 back in 10/06.

I pay $450 per month for 15,ooo miles per year for 4o months. I put $6000 down and sticker was $45,240. With 0 down $650 isn't bad in my opinion but with all the problems with the ES I would look elsewhere. Atleast with a lease you know when your bad decision is history. Sad fact, even with $6000 down on the lease I'm upside down on a trade. This ES350 is not a hot item on the used car market. Bet the market will will flooded with lease turn ins,
The buy out price is much higher than the real value of this piece of crap.

$587 for 3 yr/36K mile lease on a UL w/ $1300 down (includes acquisition fee and vehicle reg/title fees, but no security deposit or first month payment). The finance guy offered me the option to do it w/ no down but seeing a sub-$600 monthly payment feels so much better for my psyche--LOL! Monthly payment would have been a bit lower had I qualified for Tier-0 financing (only good enough for Tier-1)...
Of course, now that the prime rate is lower now than it was back in 2006 (which is when I purchased mine), I'd reckon that even lower lease payments are possible.
mmrfr--I'm sure you have your reasons for doing so, but the general recommendation is to not put down such a sizable deposit--the main reason being that, in the (highly-unlikely but not entirely impossible) event that your car gets totaled and is declared a complete loss by your insurance company...that's $6000 you have essentially thrown away.

I actually purchased mine.
$7K down
Added 3m clear bra,XM radio and 3 years of unlimited dent removal
TT&L
UL ES350 with everything except radar cruise
$622 per month @ 72 months.
So, it seems a purchase and lease may not be far apart in payment.
Just watch those leases, dealers can hide profit!!!
