I have the evidence, and I drive it every day! :-)

My 08 ES350 is just a few weeks old, and so far, no matter how I try to make happen, I have zero problems with the transmission. In fact, I'm very impressed with it.

I agree about the UL package. If you're buying, it's only a few extra bucks per month over a premium package w/nav model. I think the upgrade makes the Es a completely different car.

The ES is hard to beat for the niche it's designed to fill. It's incredibly quiet, no rattles, and get's great gas mileage considering the size of the car and powerful engine.

The IS is great too. Unfortunately I'm over 6'2" and felt very cramped in the seat. I would need the AWD version in Boston, and I was disappointed with the silly hump on the floor and lack of power (compared to the ES.) I like the looks of the GS better but couldn't talk myself into it after test drives. It's really noisey on the highway, and I need a trunk on my car. The ES is a much better highway cruiser IMHO.

I also have evidence - but to the contrary.

I have an 08 ES350 WITH transmission flair. It started at about 1000 miles.

Good to know. I have 10 miles to go before I hit 1000, I'll be watching closely.

I have a '08 ES350 and a '08 IS350. Both run great and I've never looked back!

...The backup camera does!

I have a 2007 ES350 UL with 24K miles, never one single problem, not that folks dont have them, I just have not had any.
