Has anyone else recieved the exchange offer from Lexus yet? I just got mine in the mail today and I'm looking for some suggestions. So tell me why I should or should not consider it.

I think the whole NY/NJ area got blasted with this "exchange" offer. I even got one too for my no longer existing ES. I used to get it awhile ago with my previous "generic" Nissan and Toyota. Definitely something you wouldn't expect from Lexus. But desperate times call for desperate measures

Understood. But could you guys give me some reasons why I should hear them out or maybe why I should not even waste my time. I have two reasons why I would like to hear the offer... 1. My flare issue that I would hope to get rid of with an '08... 2. I kicked myself in the rear for not going with the Nav pkg in my '07. Thanks in advance, you guys are great.

Jeff, if you have had the flash performed and you still have flares, call the 800 customer service department and demand a buyback. Lexus has been buying back units where the flares cannot be repaired. But, you have to give them the opportunity to repair it. A letter from your attorney would help the process.
As to the ad you are questioning, it is your dealer trying to get you to come in and buy a new car. There is no free ride. Don't know the details, I have never received one. But, there are many types of marketing that try to get customers in the door. That is the toughest part.
But, instead go the buyback route if you still have flares and your dealer cannot fix. This way, you will get your full money back and not have to buy a new one. By the way, some 08s flare too. So, getting an 08 is not a 100% fix to your problem.
Good luck

I have seen no evidence that Lexus has devised a satisfactory remedy for ES transmission flare. In your shoes I would not consider another ES...no matter what year, until future customers report via this forum that a completely redesigned tranny was flawless. If you are successful with a buyback, you should consider another model: IS 350, GS (both engines), RX 350, or if you want to wait, a small crossover based on the Toyota RAV4 with the 350 motor, due later this year. Hope this helps.

My brand new 08 has a flawless tranny but maybe I'm just lucky.
You definitely should demand that your dealer take care of the issue. Lexus covers most of the cost and the dealer is just trying to hold on to a few bucks. I know for a fact that dealers have bought back cars or replaced entire transmissions in 07 models that were inflicted with the problem.
Your dealer knows there is documentation on the 07 problems and can't refuse a direct demand for service. Don't let them get away with this.
