Hypothetically--if not theoretically, increasing tire width (assuming no change in tire rubber compound) results in a drop in fuel economy since more contact surface to the road will result in an increase of friction. Why do you think high fuel economy cars come with skinny tires?

Yes I realize/know that any drop in fuel economy from the use of wider tires will not be readily noticeable (i.e., we're not talking about a drop of a few MPG or more), but it is measurable...just like there would be if you were to underinflate your tires by 1 or 2 psi.

And yes, I understand that some folks will do certain things...even if it means having to give up/lose something else in return.

Default tire replacement

my original michelin energy tires lasted 24k. i called michelin slightly disgruntled and they recommended the new primacy tire. i've only had them for 1000 miles but so far they seem equivalent to the oem michelins. also they sent me a rebate for $60 for "friends and family" as a goodwill gesture even though i'm not a friend or family but it was certainly appreciated
