Tire Recommendation

Probably an mid 06 delivery date; that makes it close to two years with 11,000 miles per year that is close to national average. I have an 07 RX350 that we bought in May of 2006 and currently has 41,000 miles and did replace the shoes at 35,000 miles. I could have gotten another 5,000 miles out of them but with my nav being the primary user, I wasn't taking any chances.

Was always a big fan of the Yokohama Avid v4s and had put them on several previous vehicles. However, never seemed to get the longevity out of them for a supposed 50k tire.
When I was looking for tires recently, I checked these out again and I guess based on all this oil nonsense they really shot up in price.
This caused me to consider a tire brand I never thought I would look at:
Cooper.
They have a "premium all season" tire called the Cooper CS4 Touring tire.
They were pretty reasonably priced for a 17 inch V rated all season.
I have to say after about 2500 miles, I have been extremely pleased with them. They are extremely quiet and smooth..... probably moreso than the original Michelin mxvs8 that came on the car originally.
They even have a 45 day satisfaction guarantee if you don't like the tires.
I would say they are worth looking at !

I'll have to replace mine by the end of the summer so I'd be interested in getting some prices from some of you guys. I haven't priced the stock Michelin's but I'm leasing so cost is key here.

Check out the Nokian WR-G2's.
Not available at all locations but their website has a link to dealers.
I originally had the WR's and they got a little noisy as the tread wore.
GREAT tire for snow.

How did you ever get 44,000 miles form the OEM tires? I barely got 10,000 miles from the OEM Michelins and got a price adjustment from Michelin for a set of new. These seem to be wearing better / longer than the OEMs. I did buy a set of Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum tires from Tire Rack for my Impala SS this week. Nice riding tire, treadwear warranty and 600 UTQ wear rating. Buy a tire with a treadwear warranty - better than one without.

I only got 23k out of the stock Michelins and they were down to 3/32".
This was with rotating them every 4-5k to boot !

Got 14,000 miles on the set of BFG tires with 4/32" left on the SS. But - they were only $79 each for 235/50 X 18", so on a per mile basis, not that good but can't complain - no treadwear warranty.....

Don't know that I drive any differently than anyone else and the roads around here are a mixture of good, bad and terrible.
I have driven a lot of highway miles with several long trips, perhaps that contributed.

I have heard great reviews in the Hot Rod Circle about the Toyo Proxie ST tires. They ride well, handle great and are good for fail or foul weather. I would like a little more bite on my ES350 tire and suggest a size change (wider) to give it better handling. You can check out the available sizes and comparisons at http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos
Note that if you replace the OEM 215/55-17 with 235/50-17 it is almost the same height circumference and revs but about 3/4 of an inch wider. Toyo makes a 235/50-17. I don't think the extra width will affect anything but make the tire better suited for the wheel well (a little fatter). Check out the reviews compared against the OEM Bridgestone Turanza (my current tire) or the Michelins.
Just a thought .... Amber Pearl

I replaced my original Toyos after 30K with Bridgestone Turanza Serenities, which are hard to get now. The Toyos were a little quieter and gave a little better gas mileage (which I'm very disappointed to find out.) The Michelins that I drove on with a loaner were very quiet in comparison to both. I'm expecting at least 50K miles from the Bridgestones.
