Hi, has anyone else heard rattling/ticking noises coming from the cupholder when the top door is opened? It took me a few weeks to pinpoint this location. When I'm driving, I hear rattling/ticking noises and when I put my hand on the cupholder door when it is opened (ie. in the vertical position), the noise disappears.
What can be done about this irritating noise emanating from the cupholder door? New hinge, padding, etc.??
Thank you in advance for your replies.

There have been many owners who complained about rattles behind the dash. Lexus issued a TSIB to remove the dash and align certain areas with felt. I had the TSIB performed and it cured my rattle issue.
As to the cupholder area, your complaint is the first I have heard about it. But, I am sure your dealer can remove the console/dash area and align it with felt also...under warranty of course.
Rattles have been one of the major complaints I have read about. It is a characteristic of the car.
But, the dealers seem to be willing to fix them.
Sure, this thread will be filled below with people who own an ES350 and say theirs is perfect and never had rattles. But, I can tell you that it is an issue. Lexus did not issue a TSIB about it because they had nothing better to do.

If the cupholder noise occurs only when you have cups/cans in it, then an easy solution is to cut two pieces of felt to fit into the bottom two sides of the holder.
I've not heard of the cupholder rattling, but it's certainly possible. It may be you have the common issue of a rattle from the bottom wood audio **** bezel. To see, try pushing hard against various areas of the lower area of that bezel when the rattle is occurring. If the rattle stops, then your issue is one of many covered by the TSB referred to by the previous poster.
Although it's the dealer's job to diagnose and locate the noise, you're most likely to get the rattle fixed if you have determined exactly where it's coming from.
