Default ES 350 passenger air bag off

I have had this issue with my 2007 ES350. The passenger airbag switches off even if someone is sitting on the passenger seat. I have to restart or unbuckle the seat belt to fix the issue. Anyone have any experience with that?
I just scheduled an appointment with the dealer.. lets what he says.

Talking about service. Do you guys get it serviced from a dealer or from outside. I got the oil change from my regular place - mobile service station and he charged me $110. This was a shocker. Now my 15000 miles service is due and I called the dealer to get a quote and the prices are driving me nuts. All 4 dealers have different prices. From $150 - $450. All of them say the will go by the book. How come one dealer charges more than the other? This is insane. Shouldn't they be charging in the same range when all go by the book?

I happened to run across this will looking for information on the 2008 ES350 before making the purchase.

I normally do my own service - Mobile1 5W-30 & new Toyota oil filter every 5000 miles (filters are very reasonable on the Internet).

My local Lexus dealer charges $140 for an oil change but that also includes a car wash and a full tank of gas.

So what should I be doing about the airbag. Now I am worried.

On my 2008, the passenger must sit properly, with the bottom firmly against the seatback. If you must slouch, you need to recline the chair.

If this isn't a problem, then it sounds like an urgent fix.

I did not get overly concerned when I saw this, my hope was Lexus had fixed this in the 08's. Mine was built in the Spring of 08. We have not had ours long enough to know if this is an issue or not - still under 150 miles.

I would do some searching on the Internet on this topic and look for Lexus TSB's concerning this problem. If you can locate a TSB you can provide that information to your dealer when you bring it in. (If there is a TSB he should already know about it but you never know these days).

Let us know what you learn.

I just did a search and found a TSB at
http://www.lexustsb.com/questions/21...INDICATOR+LAMP

There is a PDF file there that you can download. I change has been made to try and resolve this issue and the starting VIN number is listed. If your vehicle VIN is lower than this number the you should be able to have your dealer apply the TSB under warranty. If your VIN is newer I would still go to the dealer along with a copy of the TSB and have him check things our.

There may be additional TSB's on this subject, I stopped searching as soon as I found this one.
