I am also looking for a fair price on a 2009 es 350. I wanna get it with the navigations system... the dealer priced it with the Voice-activated DVD Navigation System with backup camera and Bluetooth® technology with Additional Options... that's like a 6,030.00 package. Can I just get it with the navigations system.. which is like $2000 something... or would i have no choice but to get that package? The package comes with some extra stuff that I actually don't need, but i was told i needed to get that package if I wanted the nav system. MSRP comes out to about a little over $41 k. I just wanna know what's a fair market value to pay... would $2k or $3k below msrp be possible to do and a good deal on my part? THanks.

I asked one today and he said the best price he can give for an 2009 es 350 is 38,500... he did have a pebble edition with the navigations system for 39,000....are these fair/good prices? he said they couldn't do 37,000 because these are 2009 models... what do you guys think? i placed a 500 deposit to order the car I want... is this refundable? I went to the bay ridge dealership and I don't think they will give me a good deal on it.

35816 is the car, dest, nav with ML and prem plus pack...dealers ought to be drooling in this economy for a sale. You should be able to push them over the cliff if you know what you are doing....In addition they are making 3% more on this price (hidden profit)

I will try to get it down to about 38k ... i dont' think i have time to drill the price to all the way to 36k. A 2009 es 350.. black on black with the peddle beach edition package... since msrp is about 42k, i think i'll be content with about a 4 k drop. im gonna call the dealership and get all the paperworks done tomorrow. you guys have any suggestions for tomorrow? i never brought a car before and so i don't know what to expect. im probably gonna use my parents equity line to pay off the car and pay it off asap since its cheaper than a straight finance. thanks guys.

Why don't you have your parents cosign with you and make some payments for a few months to establish credit?
As to other suggestions, don't fall for the aftermarket and backend. You can always add an extended warranty later. Keep the transaction simple and only to the purchase of the car, not the adds.
Good luck!

i was wondering... would i have to deal with hidden costs? if i ask a copy with the breakdown of all the prices including tax and registration, would that be the amount i would pay or are there like others costs they will put in without my knowledge?

There's a final sheet before you sign that lists everything. Yes, some dealers will forge paperwork, but I doubt you'll have to worry about that at a Lexus dealer. It might be at the finance office though and there are charges dealers try to slip in that aren't really legit. It's kinda hard to tell which ones are legit and which ones aren't all by yourself. But until you sign that final contract, you haven't bought the car.
Check other boards. I think I checked an Edmunds board or soemthing like that where people listed out all the charges. I found a guy in Southern California that was really helpful and detailed. Apparently, there's a local dealer advertising charge that is legit that I woulda thought was fake otherwise. I checked and my Northern Cali dealers have something similar. I couldn't find the exact amount for the NorCal charge but it was within a few bucks of the SoCal charge so I just accepted it as accurate.

That final sheet you are speaking of is called the Purchase Order. The contract is the agreement you have with your lender. If you are paying cash, there is no official contract. Signing the Purchase Order can be official. But, really, until you take delivery is when the deal is actually final.
