I am about to replace my front brake pads soon. Last time I did my rear set at the dealership and it cost a lot more than I expect. I am planning to buy some parts OEM or aftermarket then bring it to some shop to do it for much reasonable price. Anybody know where I can buy those pads and get them shipped to Canada?

I bought a set of ceramic pads and had the rotors cut. They were the best pads I ever used. I found the brand on either this forum or the other lexus forum - I don't remember what they were.

I must admit even though I only have 6K miles on the car the dust level of the OEM pads is very low. I usually do my own brake work so based on what I am seeing I will most likely buy a set of OEM pads when the time comes. Also unless I score the disc's or they get warped I never have them turned down. I just take the glaze off and put in a new set of pads. If you do a normal "wear in" procedure you should have no problems. Front brakes usually take about an hour from start to finish so this is no big deal. Depending on the hand brake set up on the rears it may take an extra half hour to do them. Considering you are dealing with a cushie riding cruiser type car anything above OEM pads are a waste of money. The other potential is you will introduce pad squeal with aftermarket pads. My 2 cents

I don't know about the 350 but the 300 is in fact the same as the Camry of the same year. I got my last set for $67.00 from the local Toyota dealer. Again, identical to the Lexus. I have also used Beck/Arnley and Raybestos and have never had any squeal or pull with them either. It is nice to hear jagtoes say he does not cut the rotors unless they need it. Many people insist that it is necessary. I used to be a mechanic and the only reason I could ever find is marketing. One fellow in the RX-300 forum just came down on me for suggesting that you can do pads or rotors without doing the other. I've done hundreds and never had a problem.
I will say stay away from EBC. Worst pads on the market. Lots of dust even with ceramics. I tried them at one time and customers brought cars back constantly.

MD350 - If the Toyota dealer does good work, do you mind saying which dealer it is that you use? I've tried a number in the Rockville/Germantown MD area and have not been enthralled by the quality of workmanship anywhere.
